Not really, they were talking to JJ Watt. He didn't disappeared this year ...

DPOY people! Show some respect. We still love you Morey

Let's see. The guy who turned Landry into Harden, or the guy who got blown out twice by the Pats?

I hope Morey isn't content now that he got Harden. I think he is more patient now. He won't be as desperate to sign someone like Josh Smith.

Morey gets on every week. This was a rare opportunity to get JJ Watt on set, and they are at the Super Bowl after all.

No way they're going to let JJ go by (and probably go straight to 610) while they talk about the freaking Rockets that 80% of the city can't watch anyway. If you can't tell I'm extremely bitter about the CSN deal at this point. It's ludicrous and anytime I think or hear about the Rockets it pisses me off.

Daryl said in the Interview that Denver and Houston play very similar styles, but he acknowledge that the Denver team was more talented. But he also stated that Harden was the best player on the floor.

I don't think Morey is going to hang his hat on the Harden acquisition. I bet he's looking for a championship ring.

    Let's be honest here.

In a league where more teams make the playoffs than don't....we have a franchise in town that has won exactly one playoff series in the last 15 seasons. Comparing playoff appearances between the Rockets (who play in a league where 53% of the teams make the playoffs - including damn near annually letting in teams with losing records)....to the Texans (who play in a league where 38% of the teams make the playoffs)...is nuts. It's not apples/apples.

I love this franchise. I was there in the Summit when they won both championships. I'm sitting in an office right now with an Hakeem autographed ball; a framed 1994 World Champs poster with ticket stubs surrounding it; and a framed Believe It Again magazine cover signed by Drexler.

But it's been a long time since this franchise did something to stir the soul of the city. Something that gave people a reason to think they were a legit title threat. I haven't felt that way about the Rockets since 1998, still punch drunk on Believe It campaigns and back-to-back titles. Many of you were in elementary school at that point.

And now...they're not even available to watch on TV to 60% of homes with a TV in the city.

Given all that, it should be no surprise to any of you that this team isn't the talk of the town.

Moreover...Morey's segment on 790 is a contractual segment that came with 790 winning the rights to broadcast their games. He's on weekly for that. This week the show happened to be out of town and arguably the city's most popular athlete happened to walk by at the same time. Morey's weekly segment can chill out for 15 minutes for that. They can still get to it.

Let's stop pretending like the Rockets are due some respect they're not getting.

Well said. They talk to Morey every week so it's not like anything that was missed couldn't be addressed the following.

They talk football all day even though we do not have Texans games right now. We think the radio host people could not watch the rockets games either, so they can not talk the game much. At least, I do not see many people call in because 60% of local people are not watching the games.

The rockets might haven't won in 15 years but when's the last time the Oilers/Texans won a meaningful playoff game? oh wait they haven't.. everyone knew they would lose last year to Baltimore and everyone outside of homerville knew they would get blown out again to N.E.

and it's not like the Texans have ANY flexibility to sign anyone worth a damn to get them over the hump..

790 is 90% Texans talk. and this whole Houston has always been a football town is hilarious.. Texans have had 2 good years before doing nothing since there inception and before that the 90's was choke after choke by the Oilers.. Let's at least celebrate a Franchise that has actually accomplished something.

and i went to every home Texans game this year. screamed my head off at ever game too.

This is a non issue...Morey is contractually obligated to be there. JJ Watt is a rare chance for 790 to get the most popular Texans player on.

I don't blame them one bit, it is Superbowl week.

They're in RADIO ALLEY at the freaking Super Bowl, and J.J. Watt happens to walk by. What do you expect them to do?? Besides, the Texans have actually WON 2 playoff games in the last 2 years, so some of you sound like freaking morons when you talk about relevance. J.J. Watt is the Defensive Player of the Year on a team that has gone 24-12 in its last 36 games.....THAT'S what I call relevant.

MadMax isn't even a Rockets fan anymore. Anyone who's been here long enough knows he thinks more of the Astros.

    PS: TL;DR

Out of curiosity exactly what hidden nugget did this uberexclusive interview with watts turn up? That the texans will try harder to win next year? That he's disappointed they lost in the playoffs? Or that he thinks schaub is a championship qb even though the guy craps the bed every year? I hope they got a "there's no I in team" quote out of watts.

EVERY playoff game in the NFL is meaningful! EVERY playoff game in the NFL is a win-or-go-home proposition. I was disappointed in how the year finished...but holy hell, getting to the playoffs and winning a game (which the Texans have done the last 2 seasons) is far and away more impressive than anything we've seen from the Rockets since 1997.

Houston is a football town regardless of how the team performs. Every game of their existence has been sold out. Their TV ratings are crazy.

That's not solely a Houston thing....the NFL is an absolute monster.

How am I to celebrate the accomplishments of what the Rockets did in 1995 now? I was 21 then. I'm 38 now. I have 2 kids, one of whom is a HUGE Rockets fan but hasn't seen them do jack crap in his 13 years of life. How many people live in Houston now that didn't live here in 1995? How many of those people are callers to sports talk shows?

I always make fun of Cowboys fans saying, "Got Rings?" Talking about championships that over a decade old. Same is true of the Rockets. They were awesome memories...and I loved every second of it. But a franchise can't expect to have radio buzz because it won a championship 18 years ago.

    I'm not a Rockets fan anymore? :) That's rich.

I can't watch the team...but I've paid for tickets to 3 games so far this season...and I'm taking my son and 3 of his friends a week from tonight to see them play the Blazers. My parents bought me a Rockets tshirt for Christmas. During Rockets games, since I don't have Comcast, I fire up the NBA Gametime App on my iPad to follow along as best I can.

Yeah, I'm a Rockets fan, REEKO....I'm just not blind.

How is it even possible to get the name of the most dominant defensive lineman in the NFL wrong?? It's WATT.

I was hearing it live yesterday. Didnt think much of it. They are at a SUPERBOWL event, JJ Watt happened to be right there.

Just loved that Wisconsin love they both gave each other. I dont have any connections to Wisconsin, but it was a neat little degree of separations fact I hadn't known about Morey.
