Can't find them anymore, but the Kings offered more money, same years. Ryan Anderson said it was the hardest decision of his life to turn down the Kings.
We had no assets to pull of a major move and we are the best team in the league currently. Not really much else Morey could have done

The articles published at the time indicate / imply that Ryan Anderson was being offered close to 20 million per year for 4 years by the teams that were offering him deals. Source: Kings still in mix for free agent Ryan Anderson [NBC] http://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/kings/source-kings-still-mix-free-agent-ryan-anderson [Hoops Hype] Storyline: Ryan Anderson to Kings? http://hoopshype.com/storyline/ryan-anderson-to-kings If Ryan shot at a higher clip and averaged close to what he did in New Orleans (17 points and 6 rebounds) when we signed him, he would be worth 12 to 15 million. At 20 million per, he would still be overpaid, but it would not be a contract that was dead weight, nor would it have been impossible to move.
okay lets say baseline was 80/4 I'm no cap expert but could Morey have offered a very front-loaded contract? like 23, 21, 19, 17? OR same years, more money, and team option or partially guaranteed last year? like 85/4 last year team option or partially guaranteed OR more money per year but less years? like 65-70/3? OR a combination of above? who were the other PFs in that free agency? howbout Marvin Williams, Ilyasova, Aminu? feels like Morey got lazy. obsessed with 1 guy not at the value and simply matched money & years. didn't try to find other options, didn't try to be creative with the contract, he let the market dictate the value
The trade obviously worked out very well, but yeah, you wish you could have kept Harrell or Decker or Sweet Lou - any one of those and we'd have been able to get Carmelo for Ryno.
not sure why some of you fools doggin OP, Paul only played 1 season for the Rockets so far. Yeah he was pretty good last season, WHEN HEALTHY. Think about this, he'll a year older, so what makes you think he'll be more durable next season and so on for the next 4 seasons he's locked up for?
Best regular season in franchise history, WCF again, had warriors 3-2, but man I wish we had Harrell. Screw morey!!
We may have beaten the warriors with CP. Obviously, even with the old guy wrapped up for the next 4 years, that ship has sailed. Once again, GS gets another player better than anyone on the rockets (ok boogie isnt quite as good as harden but durant is better) and they will just slap us around again for a while. Clearly, without CP, this team is not very good. Harden wanted no part of leading this team against the warriors. Now they have a top 3 big man on their roster.
