Haaaa! You see our weak interior D and horrible rebounding as a strength? Obiviously Morey doesn't, so that's why he's trying to make a move. And it's a move in the right direction. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Mcdyess can block shots too... sorry Chuck
I just dont get it, if we sign both McDyess and Mutombo, our front court will be packed.. Alston/Brooks Tmac/Barry Artest/Battier Luis Scola/Antonio McDyess/Landry Yao/Mutombo/Hayes Are we looking at 11-man rotation now???
AB is our PG! You guys dont see it I guess. What has been killing us is our weak interior D when Yao is out and our crappy rebounding. If we dont get the rebounds it usually leads to fastbreak points for the other teams on transition! And yes, McDyess did play Center and PF for Detriot too if I might add.
I see where he can help but a lot of those problems can be addressed by simply having Scola and Landry play smarter. Particularly Landry. However if Chuck Hayes goes because of this, I am fine with that....I love his D, but his lack of offense is contricting to the team when he is in there. Also, depending on how McDyess does, maybe we trade Landry to Charlotte for Felton? If it is a move to get to a move, then I am all for it...if it is just adding another PF, then MEH. DD
We better hope we get Mutombo back cause he is our real leader on the team and we better hope Mcdyess chooses Houston over Boston.
Tsquare, I agree with you on the AB... All the questions on the board about what is wrong with Yao and T_Mac, it first starts with the man in charge (on the floor). It's the pg job to take control on the floor, look at the difference of when AB is on the court and when Rafer is out there. Rafer will only pass the ball to Yao or T_Mac.. NO MATTER WHAT.. AB passes to the open man.. moving the ball around to get everyone in position. Now granted there are other issues, but that is the biggest one. I like McDyess at the Center position and even at age 60 he still has some hops, plus he's going to give you everything he has and not get punked under the boards... McDyess still demands respect from his opponents.
There is always an advantage here. Playing with Yao can help players open chinese market. I think this will depend on McDyess's future plan. From a business standpoint, Houston is the best place for him.
Why do we keep getting washed up cast offs from other teams and expect them to produce? How is Brent Barry working out for the Rockets? Or Steve Francis, or Mike James, or....well you get the point. None of the low risk moves have worked out, not one......the draft we are nails but our trading and free agent signings have had crap results. DD
A lot of us think Mutombo is the answer to backup center. But realistically, he's only going to get VERY limited minutes. He had limited minutes when he was here. Adding McDyess would help spot the minutes Mutombo won't get.
I am ok with that, but what do you do with Hayes, Landry, Scola and Dorsey?...... If you sign McDyess you do not need Deke......or you need to jettison one of the other PFs to improve another area of need.....ah...PG anyone? DD
Why would McDyess go here? We remember signing that punk Pippen over him when he really wanted to be with the Rockets then We would have had a front line of Dream, Barkley, and McDyess!
We definitely need a PG, but who are we going to get? Our second most glaring need is backup Center. There are pieces out there to fulfill that need. I think McDyess or Scola will have to be full time back up Center. The frontline looks like this: McDyess/Landry/Hayes Yao/Scola/Mutombo or Scola/Landry/Hayes Yao/McDyess/Mutombo You need Mutombo because of his height and interior defense. He has a HUGE presence on the defensive end. We need a PG, but there is nothing out there
Hey DD, what did u think about my trade proposal of scola, head, and hayes for villanueva, allen, and elson? Plus we save 500k
