Waste of roster space, he is redundant, we need more help elsewhere.

The only way you make this move is if you are moving one of our PFs for a PG.

Even on ESPN NBA Shootaround Jamal Mashburn said that McDyess should go to Houston at the end on the show. I wanna see him and Mutombo come in and give us the size we need in the backcourt. Lets do it BABy  !!!!!!!!!!!

    Agreed.

There is a better option out there in one player that is younger, healthier and just plain better than McDyess and Deke together.

Kaman averages almost 3 blocks 12 boards 15 points and over 50% shooting shooting last year.

Kaman is not an option period cause we dont have what it takes to get him.

Why would we bring in McDyess unless we are moving either Scola or Landry? I really don't see Hayes going anywhere. He's the only player on our team who can effectively guard big men. I'll put my faith in Morey...he's done a great job so far. If we do make a trade, I hope it's Scola and Head (Francis too if it helps anything) for a good PG and a 7fter who isn't slower than Yao.

ESPN Trade Machine currently has the Rockets at $1.7M over LT. If Deke's (pro-rated) and Wafer's waived contract is calculated not to exceed the vet min of $800K then they add another vet min contract in Nov/Dec. $2.4M could be amount they need to dump to get under LT.

OKC are the only team in the league with a significant TE who can trade it without going over LT themselves. Their TE is good for Hayes, Head, or Francis. However with over half the league hot for this TE I don't see the Rockets getting it.

So if the Rockets are forced to salary dump by trading for 25% less Hayes is going to be one of the candidates.

Chris signed a 5 year 50 some odd million dollar contract. There's no realistic way we can get him.

I like Hayes but replacing him with McDyess isn't a bad trade. McDyess is known for his post D and he's taller and can play above the rim unlike Hayes.

But it doesn't address the team's weaknesses.....it just adds to a strength, where minutes are already hard to come by.

The team has more pressing needs...I am all for adding talent, but we have more pressing needs than incremental talent increases at an overstocked position.

    DD,

I totally agree with you, we need a pg like a fish needs water. But if I am not mistaken, McDyess was playing the Center and PF position at Detriot.
