As president of the players association CP3 couldnt accept less than a full value contract. It would have set back the PA in future negotiations and CP3 couldn’t do that.
meh...pretty much everyone here had loftier aspirations than an Iman Shumpert addition this team has regressed to the point where if Harden was having an identical season to the 1 he had last year, we wouldn’t be a playoff team at the moment
I heard this before, and I really don't understand the logic. We have examples of players taking payouts to help the team out sign other players. Durant is a prime example. To me, this sounds a bit self serving.
we started this year with 5 NBA players on the entire roster: Paul, harden, ego, tucker, capela. we now have 8 NBA players since adding: rivers, faried, and shumpert. he added 3 players to the rotation, while cutting $8M from the cap to get under the LT, and it only cost us Ryno, melton, a pick, and cash.
bravo, cheers for you. You do realize that harden plays his ass off, we aren't sure that is enough to get this team into playoffs.
I guarantee Paul wants a ring more than he wants a few million dollars more. But CP3 has a fiduciary responsibility to every other player to create the maximum possible leverage for PA in any negotiations with the league. Taking less than the max deal he can get would undermine that position and potentially cost every other player money in future CBAs. Durant took less money because he wanted a ring which is VERY self serving. As PA Pres. CP3 has a responsibility to other players. It’s the exact opposite of self serving.
More like Harden + the same 4 dudes that started this year + 7 YMCA dudes: Harden + CP3, EGo, Tucker, Capela...as for the other 7+ rosters spots....that'll be more of the same poo poo platter of minimum type guys we had this year.
I wanted to see if the Rockets could get Vonleh or Prince. The former perhaps a bit more likely than the latter, and Bullock too. I know it wouldn't have been easy, but those contracts were small.
The astros have had a better shot at winning it ever since 2015. Not saying we cant do it, but the astros and warriors are stacked.
It seems that the scrubs we literally pick off the street out of desperation always turns out better than the players we sign/draft. at least in the past 2 years. Gerald Green was about to retire, Rivers got waived with nowhere to go, House was legit unknown G-leaguer about to head for China, Faried also hasn't been in a NBA rotation since Nugget days. meanwhile, MCW, JoeChee are straight up not NBA players. Hartenstein and Ennis are barely usable. Clark also doesn't even get minutes anymore
Durant is not the top executive of the organization that exists to make sure players get the most money possible. It seems that you may not get the roles played by officers of the NBAPA elected by their peers. Also, Katy has taken a insane amount of (deserved) **** for what he’s done. And Paul may not wish to sign up for that.
Morey did amazing. I can’t understand that enough for some of the rest of you. Even his offseason “mistakes” were calculated gambles that he knew he could get out of, if needed. He always says it matters what the team looks like in April, not October. He plans for these upgrades.
Before we set our sights on the warriors, can everybody turn their attention to Toronto, Milwaukee, Philly and Boston? Jesus, that's four superteams that's got incredible depth.
This. Current team actually looks pretty good as long as they stay Healthy. Wish these so called 'fans' would give them a chance before b****ing and whining. The ball is round and anything can happen. At least save your whining until we get bounced in the Playoffs (Which ain't happening, unless injuries).
the good thing is that when those idiots are reacting with these dramatic disaster outlooks, it usually means positive things for the rockets.
If the Rockets can get a solid player in the buyout who can play small forward, and power forward, play strong defense. Then I'll agree with you. Right now they still lack of depth.
