No doubt that there seems to be some bad blood between some owners like Cuban/Les and Stern, but I think your reaching here. Those two teams who have got screwed over time after time, have both still been able to win championships in the NBA with smart moves and two good draft picks by both teams.(Dirk & Hakeem)

The truth is that its all about $, and in the past the NBA brass has always pushed legacy super teams who will inevitably meet in the finals year after year. Its a story book that they were able to write in the past for ... well a good story. It was a way to create brand names, and develop some truely historical matchups on the grand stage. That was then, this is now.

The past couple of years Stern has changed his tone considerably among the public and in the media to make statements that make it seem as though he is envious of the NFL's parity. Im not sure if its just lip service, or if he is being serious, but its a huge change in tone from what has been created within the NBA model backs in its CBA structure.

-Look at the latest CBA. The CBA is set at a 75Mil lux tax line. The Lakers will owe 34M in tax for six players only at 92M alone. Thats over $126M for half of a team after tax this next year. Who knows what its going to be in year 2 when the tax implication really comes into affect.

This is what Stern created, and this is a huge punishment for teams like the Lakers who have created these types of super teams. Maybe it isn't going to work, and owners like the Buss' simply dont care about the lux tax, but you cant say that Stern has made it any easier for teams like the Lakers to continue to absorb a bounty of superstars year after year.

The Lakers can still be a super team, but teams like the Rockets, and Mavericks are at the very least benefiting financially from the insane amount of luxury tax these teams will be paying.

Im not a fan of Stern, nor do I feel good about backing him in this argument, but I have to say in this case now in the new CBA that he created, it just doesn't make much sense to say that Stern would help create a superteam in LA or NY just to screw over owners like Les and Cuban. If anything, it sort of helps owners like them financially at the very least.

This has nothing to do with Morey now.

Orlando didn't want to piss off Howard or his super agent.

    Orlando folded, not Morey.

Lakers have 2 years in them before Kobe, Gasol, and Nash are in decline or done. Howard will find himself soon enough on a mediocre Laker team.

This is a temporary power surge to the Lakers. In 3 years they will be a fading team again.

Our only problem now is Kevin Martin. Foolish as the Asik signing is, I don't think he will make much of an impact and will be a wasted contract. Lin is going to go through some growing pains and that's ok.

IF we can dump Martin this team will truly be committed to scoring 80 points a game which will land us top picks for the next two years. Through in the Toronto pick and the fact that we have cap room to make a major free agent singing in summer of 2015 to take a very young team from competitive to contender status.

Next year will suck. But it will start to get better quickly after that. THe more we stuck, the better. At least we will have something to look forward to on draft night.

Won't be as easy with the new CBA in place.

Lakers will need to dip into the draft to reload. They will have to suck for a while first.

LMAO! All those people I bet that were being ridiculed for saying Morey wouldnt pull this off on this site? What about them?

We just gonna now forget all those conversations where those other posters said Morey was not gonna get Howard and the forum blew up on them? I think those that did need to man up now. DD was right, Who else? Lets see.

DD, Thetatomatis, umm, I am relatively new at lurking here too. I think coachbadlee, the pro tanker crowd who wanted to rebuild the way Morey is doing it now that Howard is off the table.

I'm guessing Morey's offer was better than what the Magic got, but not better enough to justify crossing Dwight and his posse.
