He did make that statement, yes. Do you think Morey believes that? Do you think Morey looked at all the analytics on that? Or did he selectively carve out some analytics and conveniently answer a question? Do you believe everything Morey says? Do you think he exaggerates once in a while? Do you think he twists things once in a while? Do you think he disguises things once in a while? He's the GM of a team in the NBA. He's not going to give us everything. I think Morey very clearly knows and understands the power of a great coach.
I do think he undervalues coaching and was making a general statistical point however a GREAT coach is the outlier that gets more out of the same roster. Kerr more than Jackson Pop more than Hill Rudy more than Cheney Good coaching matters a WHOLE LOT, you can't run around quoting the mean - and act like that has any statistical bearing because the MEAN AVG has the Bickerstaffs in there too. So, not only do we not have a GOOD coach, we have a bad one that drives down the data. YIPPEE! DD
Trash offensive scheme. One-on-one Fonde/YMCA ball garbage. So boring to watch with everyone running around aimlessly playing hero-ball. Hot garbage. Talented players, but their plan on offense is hot garbage. Also, I don't think these guys really care at this point. Got their millions. Owner has his millions and doesn't care just along as people show up in the stands. Morey is a stubborn genius whose philosophy isn't panning out right now. Time for a paradigm shift buddy. Make Bickerstaff run plays on offense like the Spurs and Warriors.
