Well this just makes Kubiak and Co. look like they don't have a clue and just adds more fuel to the "They Should Have Taken REGGIE BUSH" bonfire that's raging out of control nationally. Dan Patrick had Pete Carroll on his ESPN radio show today and he was short-stroking this for all he could get. Look, I can understand if you made a heartfelt decision to go with Mario instead of Reggie. BUT, and that's a big BUT, if you make those types of decisions, you have to be cognizant of the public relations flap that will ensue. Specifically, if you are passing on a superior offensive talent like Bush, you'd better not end up with offensive deficiencies that his talent would have addressed, i.e. a complete inability to run the ball which is what was on display last Sunday and most likely be on display come next Sunday. This just increases the pressure on this team and sets them up for further ridicule which is the last thing it needs right now.
Just had a thought.....Why don't we convert Super Mario into a short yardage back/goal-line back/3rd down back http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/427356 2"s and change and 26 lbs off from this guy: http://www.giants.com/team/player.asp?player_id=133 That way, we get our Running back....then we trade for a D.E. But this article says...R. Dayne will be our B.Jacobs....http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=124441 In case you missed it, Ron Dayne was signed by the Texans and will be the team's short-yardage and goal-line back. You can understand why the Texans gave him a shot -- the team's coach, Gary Kubiak, was the Broncos' offensive coordinator last year, where Dayne played in 2005. Kubiak is familiar with what Dayne can bring, and that is a back who can deliver a whuppin'. Look for Dayne to be what Brandon Jacobs is for the Giants, and what Jerome Bettis was for the Steelers in past seasons. However, Dayne doesn't have as much upside as these two players because he is slower to and through the hole. One other deep sleeper to watch in touchdown-only leagues is Falcons running back Justin Griffith. He just might fill the short-yardage role last filled by T.J. Duckett, who was traded to Washington. Griffith (5-11, 232) certainly has the build for such a role
Dayne shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as The Bus. Dayne was pretty productive for the Broncos but I don't expect him to play any better here.
he should definitely not be compared with brandon jacobs either. that dude is scary. he's faster and more athletic than dayne could ever hope to be and oh yeah, he goes about 240.
