I agree, but I think he should start. Wafer produce more when he started. Even if Battier shot was on, he's still is not going to give you double digits points per game. Also is it me or is Wafer D getting a little better.

That is another fine point, Wafer is probably going to improve going forward, where Shane will decline.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, if shane, hayes, and rafer is playing more than 20mins a night on your team, you're not winning a ring. Rafer is gone, chuck might as well be, and now we're left with shane. People talk about not trading tracy, what about not getting outlaw for shane? They should revisit that option this summer or just move him for a sign and trade with hayes for marion or another 8-10m player. This team needs work and anyone that doesnt see it cant see. Thanks for finally catching up DD.

Shawn Marion is an interesting name, his contract is up and it looks like he won't be getting near the 17 million a year he's been getting in his past contract.

It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he will demand.

I don't care what the freaking stat line is or seeing a re-statement of the "intangibles" mantra. Kobe guarded Battier and basically played Centerfield roaming wherever he wanted on D, clogging the paint in the process. Kobe actually has to guard Wafer.

But then, to pick that up, someone would actually have to watch a game rather than read a boxscore.

Out the woods? I dont know how long we've been talking about this, but it never gets old my man. Thats one of the reasons kobe has such big 4th qt's against the rox. He guards shane and roams all over the court causing problems. Thats like we discussed before that i'd rather kobe score 30 and the other 15 vs kobe scoring 37 and shane scoring 4. It just doesnt add up.

I bring up marion because he's a motion offense type of guy. He's going to get 8-10m this year on the market. If the rox just move forward without tracy, resign artest for 4 and 40m, sign and trade marion for shane and hayes for about the same, now they would have a finisher, rebounder, defender, that plays without the ball and play with energy. I guarantee if kobe slacked off marion like he did shane, it would be a backdoor dunkfest.

You would have to actually understand the information people post to get anything out of it wouldn't you.

Plus you are so r****ded about the stupid box score. I would imagine 90% of the people who you complain about watch each and every game, probably multiple times.

So maybe we see MORE than you... and instead of being such a whiner about people not watching the game you could actually take what they have to say and see if maybe you can learn a little something.

But I won't know because you are back to ignore.

If Shane was playing at the same level as last year and shooting 40+% from 3pt range, I would be fine with him, but he isn't.

Hayes fans, there are alot of people that dont watch the games or even listen. They will grab the box scores and first words out their mouths is about yao's shot attempts.

The only way i would like shane playing big minutes is if Yao was avg like 23,tracy 20,ron 18ppg,luis 15, then i think the rox could afford to have a guy that will only get 8-10 ppg in 30+ mins.

To me it is not a PPG argument so much as a legitimate THREAT to score the ball.

He does provide spacing, but the one area you and I have consistently agreed on is that he doesn't cut at all....

When Kobe is essentially laying off of him and going hard to Yao, it is Shane's job to follow him and get to an open space near the basket and provide a target for Yao to pass him the ball.

    He doesn't do that....EVER.......

That is my 1 big beef with him.....he does not move without the ball often enough......cutters...this team needs em in the worst way.

When Yao posts up about 6 feet from the basket the lane is WIDE OPEN !!!

Exactly. Shane was brought in to do everything but score because the team was supposed to have three guys doing the bulk of the scoring. Shane is a role player and role players are only valuable to teams that are loaded with scorers and need a guy to do the dirty work.

When your scorers are not playing or are not scoring the role players become a liability. Shane is the liability right now.

LOL, how much more do you expect Shane to decline DD? What makes you think that he won't get back to his career averages. Don't you want some scoring punch off the bench and do you make changes just to make changes. I would rather see Wafer come off the bench in a Shandon Anderson type role minus the postups and rebounding. Lowry and Wafer play well together and can get out and run. I say keep Wafer right where he's at and if it broke don't fix it.

I don't know what this thread is about. Shane is the only one in the starting lineups who can throw an entry pass effectively. Now you replace him with blackhole Wafer? So you can pretty much forget the other player comparison, tangible, intangible etc.

Jump, I said start Shane but give more minutes to Wafer.

And actually I never understood the whole punch off the bench argument...sure I get it some, but I would rather my best offensive players be playing the largest amount of time....so the team could score the ball more easily.

You have left out AB who is now scoring more points and looking for more shots.

Look DD, no matter which person is on the court more minutes teams are always going to devise a game plan to take away the most effective players. Wafer may be aggressive, but that doesn't mean giving him more minutes is going to help in the long run.

The key to Battier getting the same amount of minutes, right around that 30 per game total is you can utilize him in your game plan on more than one side of the ball.

At this point teams are daring Ron and Shane to shoot, which is okay when they are hitting, but you pick your poison. Wafer can score the ball, this is true, but you can't devise an offensive game plan around him nor can you use him in the defensive scheme against anyone. Shane is a much better passer, he's faster and actually does it, than Wafer, so when teams have to rotate, yes they might leave him open, but they also try to recover and Shane is much better at swinging the ball.

What happens when you give Wafer more minutes, you have to give Ron more minutes to cover defensively. If you give Shane more minutes then he and Ron can play together, or he and Wafer can play together.... or you can even add Barry into that mix, because he and Shane can play together.

Yes Wafer is improving defensively, but for balance sake on both sides of the floor he needs someone next to him who can help defend. Either Lowry, who I think is a very good defender or Ron or Shane have to be on the court with Wafer or we give up too much defensively. So you either have to give extra minutes to Ron, when he's off the reservation, or you give Shane his minutes. Wafer, AB and anyone else not named Battier is most likely to give up a lead... especially someone like Artest who gambles defensively for steals.

It's also more likely to get our big men into foul trouble.

Oh and about the people reading the box score, I know that some people do it leebigez, but those aren't the people GATER complains about. He complains about anyone who tries to take what they see in a game and quantify it in any way.

DD, thats been my beef for awhile with shane. Its not that i want him to try to score 20 every night, but he needs to take advantage of yao and the attention he garners. I may not think of scola as high as some, but he takes full advantage of moving to open spots and creates a passing lane for yao. He's a pressure relase guy and thats why he's scoring at a effective clip. Shane has never done that since becoming a rocket. as i've said also beofre, shane in memphis used to score of be effective a variety of ways. He used to run the break, post, mid range, attack the hoop. Now, i know it sounds like was a great offensive player, he wasnt, but he was effective to the tune the defender had to guard the entire package. Thats why in memphis only about 1/3 of his shots were 3 and now 60% are. In memphis he went to the line 200= times a game vs 100 or less in houston. Now thats only 1.25 more times than in houston, but that drawing a foul on probably their big man.

Thats why i laughed when everyone or most thought adelman's only problem offensively was tracy. This psuedo motion requires guys slashing, rubbing, curling in the flow of a pass, yet the rox were loaded with standstill guys. Thats why i mentioned marion in the marion, deng, jefferson or even on a lower end maggette. They need guys who can curl a screen and put pressure on the defense. They need guys who can backdoor and get alley's or finsh. They need alot more than what they have and thats sad.
