Shane is just in a bit of a slump offensively. He went through the same thing last March (although, it wasn't as bad as this). He'll be back to his old self soon enough.
We blasted Rafer for his crappy shooting, right now, Shane is approaching Rafer-isk percentages. I am not saying BENCH him, just start giving Wafer more burn, and Shane less. DD
That'd be an awesome IDEA to get tan on his skin. If it works, why not? Then everything will go back to normalcy.
Yeah i can make that happen but that means he would have to have his sunglasses too.... Uggghhhh Superstars!!! I have really liked using AB and Lowry closing games cause we had ron and shane out there and before shane switched onto kobe on the last possesion who was he guarding? Everybody in the world knew kobe was taking those shots i think we should have put more of an offensive punch in there and pray kobe misses cause he is gonna shoot it
Rafer and Shane almost have identical percentages At what point do you say the guy is struggling a lot more and needs less minutes on the floor? DD
So you dont think what i posted regarding turnovers and shot attempts was a problem? That "jolt of offense" isn't going to happen if the ball is turned over. you tighten up the execution of some plays last night, and this is a win.
So you want a guy that does nothing but stand there, some posters should be banned for not even watching basketball games
It seems to me like Shane is missing alot of shots because he isn't getting those smooth passes from Mcgrady anymore. Instead of catch-n-shoot it's pick the ball up gather yourself and shoot. He's less fluid. I agree with you. I think Wafer should start but I don't understand your logic. When you're getting 6pts a game the difference between 37% and 34% 3pt shooting is irrelevant. I have ALWAYS thought that Shane was a luxury on a team that desperately needs scoring and penetration on offense. The difference between Shane's scoring output did not win or lose this game for us.
If we are gonna go off career % then i think it would be fair to say "shane you will have a chance you earn your spot back next season."
Battier should start. Wafer should play more minutes. Wafer's game in Adelman's "offence" is better suited/more effective against the other team's second tier. Its the same way with Denver, they start some scrub but let JR Smith play the majority of the minutes. We have to maximize our scoring with our lineup which means not necessarily have to start all of your best offensive players.
Career stats are from the past, he has dropped off in every way this year, maybe cus of his injury. If the Rockets need someone to guard a wing, let Ron do it. Also, Battier has never showed up in the playoffs, so let Von get more mins, I think Rockets need Von for their 2nd team, it would be a disaster if Battier came off the bench , he won't provide any offense at all.
If it wasn't for wafers scoring output it wouldn't have even been a game! Battiers defense didn't make a lick of difference either. Whick is why we are saying Let the FOHAWK grow!
What kills me is that right after T-Mac went out he was cutting to the basket and posting up. The Rockets need another home stand so they can get some more practice sessions in.
No doubt Wafer's 4 turnovers hurt, but Shane had 2...they both played 28 minutes last night. And yes this is just one game....but in those 28 minutes. Von got 20 points 1 assist and shot 9-16. Shane got 4 points 2 assists on 1-5 shooting. So, which was the better contributor? Was Shane's defense worth 16 points more to the team? I think if you flip their minutes....give Shane the 20 or so, bump Von up to 30...and it would be better overall for the team. DD
He doesn't have an in between of aggression -- that's why he's struggled to stick for so long. His shot happiness is fine in limited minutes -- and give him more minutes when he's on (like last night) -- but there's no need to dramatically increase his minutes, especially at the expense of Battier's.
So your plan is to continue to give battier 32-35 minutes a game and hope that he can find out where exactly to put the ball! or you just want his STELLAR D and 4 points?
Man you are right, he is shot happy, and Battier is shot averse. But Nike, when Wafer was starting, he was not as shot happy as he is now, I can't help but think maybe that has to do with his limited minutes and trying to get a contract for next year. I love Battier, LOVE THE GUY, but at some point, you have to say...well this is what he is..right now.....and how can we better improve the team. Wafer is scoring 10ppg in 20mpg Shane is scoring 6ppg in 30mpg Clearly Shane is a much better defender....so the question would be, what does the team need more, is it Shane's defense, or Von's offense? For me, I think we need both, but would like a little more of Von's offense because Ron covers the defensive part. I groan at Wafer's jumping with no plan at the rim too, but then I see his aggression actually helping the team....we need aggressive attack the basket players, particularly against teams that take Yao out....
