I have an idea, but I'm not sure how this might work out. Since it seems we are going to be doing some pretty significant moves this summer, I propose we try to do the following: This organization loves taking risks with bonehead players and I think Artest should be a viable option if we are willing to do this. As we had said for the past three years, low risk, huge reward type deal if the Rockets get him for Snyder, Sura, V-span and 1st round pick. That's a nice deal and hoping it goes through since Artest value is at an all time low. This clears up the backcourt jam a bit. Next, I have a feeling Bonzi is going to take the team option, but if he doesn't how about going after Morris Peterson. He is a solid veteran, not old yet and he has a great three point stroke and a solid defender. He could be a great sixth man playing behind T-mac and Artest. Although I hate to trade away Battier, we need a PF in the worst ways so he is our only valuable commodity, therefore we trade him. I'm not a huge Chris Wilcox fan, even though he gives great athleticism. I'm hoping for maybe Udonis Haslem. I'm not sure how Miami would feel about this, but I think Battier would be great for their team if they don't resign Posey. Resign Hayes as long as he isn't too expensive. This would be my line-up: PG: Mike James/Rafer Alston/Luther Head SG: Tracy McGrady/Morris Peterson/Luther Head SF: Ron Artest/Morris Peterson PF: Udonis Haslem/Chuck Hayes/Steve Novak C: Yao Ming/Deke Nice solid line up, although I would prefer to trade Rafer for another PG, but no big deal, as long as he doesn't play 30+ minutes a night ever again, I'm a happy Rocket fan.
Haslem is my ideal rockets pf too. that's the trade that i've been hoping for. its a smart thing to trade battier right now because there arent that many pf's on the market right now but billions of wing players, like a mo pete, matt carroll, matt barnes, mikael peitrus, ime udoka............. do i have to keep listing? Morey's a smart guy and he's gonna see that they are a dime a dozen at the moment and get a valuable pf (not wilcox) out of battier and maybe filler.
If anything else will happen, it will not happen before the 25th IMO. That's the deadline for Bonzi to pick up his option. I think they need to know for sure if he is on board for next season or not before deciding which guard)s) will be dealt to even out the roster.
Alright first post as well...3 months in the waiting haha...anyways i also believe that artest would be a great addition to the Rockets...the deal of snyder,v-span,and the first round pick is an ideal offer that the Rockets would hopefully pull the trigger on if available..with that said i also believe haslem would be great addition...much better then the rumors i hear of varejo (sideshow bob)
Aquire Artest and Marcus Camby and this team is a Legit ( A Serious ) Chapionship contender... Passing the 1st round? Hell not making to the finals would be the dissapointment..
we better be making trades... when a team makes playoff history... where only 4 players score in a game... we had better be making more trades....
very true. 10 days to wait and see what happens. it seems like morey expects him back. i do too. i think he will like to play for adelman once more. with bonzi and MJ on board there will be a great pressure to move about 2 of our perimeter players plus sura's contract and even our pick in the hopes of landing a player like lewis, artest, wilcox, or haslem.
I hope Rockets are gonna make some good trades yet and I'm sure we'll get some good guys from FA's list
oh yeah, it's going to be really easy, the rockets should "just" acquire Artest and Camby... and while they're at it, why not pick up Luol Deng and Okafor/Howard and swing a deal for Shaq? Somehow I don't think its going to be as easy as aquiring "Artest and Camby," but that's just my take. What about Leon Powe?
I would love Haslem, but there is no incentive whatsoever for Miami to deal him. He is cheap, young, and works hard, not to mention being a Miami native. Offering Battier wouldn't help them. They already have a similar player in Posey, who they will resign. If they lose him, then maybe, but I don't see it happening. They need a bigger one who can defend and shoot (not that those grow on trees, mind you) and we don't have that to offer. In an ideal world, I wouldn't mind trading Sura's contract and maybe Head for Shelden Williams if Atlanta gets Horford or Noah. Indiana is paying out the rear for Troy Murphy and might be open to a deal for Sura, Head, and Spanoulis, assuming they don't trade O'Neal. New York is shopping Frye and he could be had for a limited amount, if we chip in our first-rounder. There are some options out there, but I agree that that Sura's salaray plus a talented young guard prospect could at least net us a decent rotational big.
Realistic deals are up to Morey as General Manager to make and the Rockets Scouting team to find. Not mine! I just toy with suggestions for our forum to consider the possibility of. Most forum members when they post their ideas for Point Guard they invariably assess their abilities on how well they can shoot the ball. Shooting the ball well is but one of many duties of the Point Guard Position. The main function of a point Guard is to be the 'Floor General' on the court. It has been a long time since we had a decent Point Guard [not great] who could be described as in control and distributing the ball in a way as to make the team function so that the game could be described as team basketball. To combat this continued neglect [which is indicative of fans acceptance of the decline in fundaments of NBA players] I have and will continue to remind every fellow poster that the ultimate desire is for us to be seeking a Point Guard who is not only a good scorer but is also a good Playmaker. For example getting assists, as Alston does, is not an absolute indicator of being a good Playmaker. Yao Ming will only reach his full potential if we have a decent Floor General and Tracy McGrady can show offf his stuff without having to be two different players at the same time.
