Iraq didn't start a war with us. They weren't a threat to us. We started the war with them. We invaded their nation. Now as far as Al Qaeda and Afghanistan go, I am not for dropping our weapons and letting anyone win. I believe we should wipe that enemy off the face of the earth. I don't believe we should torture. As far as what Jesus would do, I believe he would deal with it without using war. I am not able to do that, or see a way to do that. I am not able to be in Jesus' league as much as I wish I could. I am all for stopping those that target innocents, and women and children. I dont' mind dropping politics out when discussing religion, but you were the one who mentioned not using some of Jesus' teaching when in war. I believe that Jesus teaching should hold true at all times. He wasn't just a man of peace. He was called the Prince of Peace.
yeah, but i thought wesley was speaking directly to humperdink. here it sounds like he's addressing buttercup or someone else.
Holy ****. Svpernaut, that has got to be the most unchristian and hypocritical stuff I've ever read. (lol - of course, svpernaut style "christianity" is damn near by definition a hypocritical joke) You make a mockery of the religion you profess to practice. Pathetic, and all too common. "Christianity" is becoming the most mis-used word in the english language.
What's particularly hilarious is that Supernaut's the guy who won't celebrate Halloween because it's been highjacked by satanists and pagans. Supernaut's Christian world view- Wearing costumes and going door to door to collect candy on Oct. 31- BAD Torturing prisoners- GOOD
No one is right in war, many things are done that should never happen... however, these people started the war. They rammed planes into our buildings and have blown up innocent people by the thousands. Regardless of what people say here, these suicide bombers and attackers are not your average Iraqi, they are terrorists who use the fear of their people to forward their agendas. Feel free to reread that post about Halloween, in it i was simply explaining a large Christian view on it. I never professed that how other people celebrate halloween means they would go to hell, or anything about anyone else for that matter... just a general Christian view. Attack me all you want about how I think these guys are monsters and should be wiped off the face of the earth, but if it was your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters or children were blown up over Sunday brunch at a hotel then you'd feel the same way I do. Call it unChristian or anything for that matter, I don't care. These guys are not human and don't deserve the same respect as your average man. Is it unChristian to say these words? Maybe, and that is something I'll have to deal with on judgement day, but until then here's to hoping we get them before they get us. Sometimes you have to man up and stop acting like pansies to get the job done. May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't. - General George Patton Jr
Except that the people being tortured haven't been determined to be guilty of anything. They are detainees. Meaning it's probable, if not definite, that many of the people being tortured are "average Iraqis". We don't know too much yet about this particular situation, but we do know that many in the previous torture scandal were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and eventually let go.
I was talking about bombers in general... but now that you tried to make me look dumb... uhh all 4 of the Jordanian bombers were Iraqi. http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2005-11-12-jordan-bombings_x.htm
don't listen to'em supernut. i'm with ya, let's go torture us some monsters. hell, i'll even buy the beer and give you gas money.
Obviously you didn't read all of my posts in the topic... I'm sorry I didn't write some cliff notes. I never said "torture them all"... infact I said the opposite. Simply because I believe some torture is warranted doesn't mean we should skin them all... but it also shouldn't mean that commanders don't have the power to use torture in extreme cases. The commanders could use the threat of torture as a persuasive meassure, not just torture itself. As it is now, all the prisoners know they are untouchable by the US all it takes is one call to the Red Cross, ACLU, Al Jazeera or any of the US news offices to get them better then fair treatment.
