How do you account for Biden winning a lot of the suburbs which were mostly republican districts?

You can't just say all of Bidens votes were base voters.

This what they claimed they did.

    https://wallyboston.com/the-lincoln-project-and-its-effect-on-the-recent-election/

In the five swing states (Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin) where TLP spent 80-85 percent of their resources, Wilson said that they moved the crossover Republican vote between 9 and 13 percent. Their goal was not to convert Trump voters or to fire up Democratic voters. Their goal was to block the Republican voters disenchanted with President Trump from voting for a Republican ticket. They wanted “the educated, suburban, college-educated voter to see the ad with the 300-pound white guy carrying the Confederate flag in one hand and an AR-15 in the other and think ‘if I vote for Trump, I’m with him.’”

Never Trumpers played a critical role in beating him. The numbers prove it.

I did not miss it I just don't agree it will not work.

It's not a bluff because they don't actually think they will win its about cutting the Trump wing off at the knees and giving Republicans a choice.

You fight and lose because you think Trumpism is terrible for the country, when you fight like Cheney you see your political capitol erased and you get taken out of leadership and you see the crazies and flip floppers like MJT and Stefanik rise to power.

I really don't understand your reasoning here, is it better to stay and fight and see everything you believe upended and carry the water off people like Gaetz, MJT and Boebert or get primaried anyway?

You can't fight from within because you will just get voted out, the reason these people left is because they saw the poll numbers.

I don't see how you think its an either or situation, if you are not fully on board you are toast.

the Republican Party was taken over by Trump, MAGA, and other deplorables...it’s the party of racists/white supremacists, Confederate lovers, Nazis, QAnon and other wild conspiracy groups, domestic terrorists, etc...it’s the anti-science and anti-intellectual party

I don’t doubt it helped but how much?

I would say the Dems underperformed considering the razor thin margins they currently have.

i like this, ultimately the idea that trump was the disruptor would prove to be true if hes able to break the two party mold and we get 3, ideally more parties. This would have more options for americans, more ideas for democracy and better representation of a very diverseview point and new solutions and more checks and balances, beause the current binary system does nothing but help current entrenched power. In theory it was like the idea of police/teacher unions. Reasonable protections and consolidation of power to have more of a force to move things, but the over reach, the loss of 'soul' has them all just about keeping power, growing, and retaining power to the point that internal investigations and if bad actors leave and get golden parachutes at tax payer cost have become abusive. They all have a place in theory, unions are important, its about the management of em. Just like with police, vital part of society, unionizing for such a danerous imperative job makes sense, but now its just become a blind turn the other eye we got your back, taxpayers lose in these situations, likewise the whole political 'dont critisize you're own, and absolute insulting don't represent you're particular district, just join the parade has done nothing but slow down american progress and help create some celebrity busts in the capitol from the more than ever out of touch private jet politicans.

Thats why I think this is a good thing.

They are not conservatives, they are not america first. They are trump first. Fiscal responsibility be damned, constitutional integrity only when its convenient, checks and balances are a waste if dear leader says so. Its off the cuff and all hinging on one human being, the irony of them calling for a revolution when all those things came closest to King George that we've ever seen.

In some ways their foundation of draining the swamp, of disrupting a slow process of entrenchment of 'how washington works' when it hasn't worked for the people outside of crumbs in many ways with uncumbnets led to a growing outrage of populism of anyone who can break the mold. I'm even fine with the idea that getting a business man with strong organizational abilities to make it more efficient, more productive, cut a lot of waste in contracts and so forth. But they got a reality show guy, those typically lead to a lot more in showmanship and screaming the loudest sensations, but the actual record even if he did well in business, he was/is a hustler to his credit and inable to die, but 14 or so bankruptcies, personal failures, a history of paying off politicians show and that his very own appointments show he just replaced the swamp with his own.

IT was really rich for him to call out Mitch Turtle mconnel's wife for her chinese ties, guess who appointed her? It was really rich for him to call generals stupid when he said thats who he listens to in his showing of north korea like patriotism demands, only when they insulted him after working close to him and originally being supporters. Likewise with most of his cabinet when he ran on being a business man who can hire the best.

Said he would solve the deficit easily and fast, he spent far more than obama.

Said he'd pull us out of war, to his credit he didn't get into any, but then he sent troops to god damn saudi arabia like all of em and said 'they paid for it'. Claims to be the ultimate troop supporter, when they had bombins he said little headaches happened.

Go look at how many times he critisized obama for government waste on travel and golf. He trippled or 4x the amount in 4 years, let alone tax payers footing the bill of further travel, further secret service, further development on his own properties to secure it while he could've just gone to camp davis which is ready, which is where most presidents did m ajority of the time.

Called out Hilary rightfully so for taking big donations on women empowerment ironically from Saudi. His daughter ended up doing the same in high amounts..

Called out rightful even perception of corruption and nepotism in Hunter biden using a government officials clout to do personal business. Of course Jared got some great loans while they ran the business like a family company and no checks and balances from qatar and israel he got bailed out for his infamous 666 6th avenue property that was about to lose him billions in default.
Likewise his daughter coincidentally getting elusive patents from China right as they met with the chinese, its almost insulting that they don't even try to hide it

This isn't some binary the other side is bette,r I get the issues and the disenchantment with the status quo political class. But this is your hero? This guy... It was comical.

The hypocrisy and his contstand surface level comments that seem to contradict himself time and time again showed he was right about one thing, he could shoot someone in 5th ave and his supporters who say hes righteous god fearing man wouldn't care, and that he loves the 'poorly educated'.

If the 3rd party does get created I have a feeling that it will hurt both parties.....

If they market the party correctly and make their message to be more in the middle to hit some of the concerns that both the Dems and Reps are missing they could be very successful.

I really hope they create the new party... I would be interesting to see where they stand since i'm an independent...

Well they are calling it a movement now and not a 3rd party so it's basically Lincoln Project again.

Yeah, I actually think it could work if it isn't just Republican lite. I know many think it's impossible but it's not like it's never happened before. I think a large part of the country is also socially liberal and fiscally conservative and if they filled that role I think they would slowly find success.

It would take a few election cycles but I could see a scenario where they at first win a congressional district or two and slowly build from there....and I think some senators would actually fit better into that party than their own, like Sinema and Manchin for example.

But it would take a lot to build that brand.

You know, there could be a niche for a Centrist party, but this ain't it. Cheney may be the leader of the exiled, but her politics are so far from Manchin I don't think there is a chance they work together as a party unit.

You might get more people running as Independents and forming an Independent Caucus to make deals for committee assignments.

I don't think the idea of these Republicans is to actually make a viable third party. I think this is about putting pressure on Republican leadership by drawing off fundraising that could go to the RNC but might instead go to this group.

We see the GOP in a a bind right now where many of them are attacking business interests over "wokeness" even while they still depend on fundraising from those groups. It's possible that given an alternative of a group that still will represent their interests but not tied to the craziness of the Trump wing that businesses might be willing to put their money there. This would put pressure on the RNC to address that.

those looking to break-off are not going to form a "centrist" party or a fiscally conservative/socially liberal party, which i think many of us would actually like to see. they are the traditional hard-core right wing conservatives...theyre just not cult members. theyre reagan/GWB mainstream republicans. the trumpers stand for nothing but trump. its got nothing to do with policy for all those treasonous scumbags.

the more pragmatic of the "conservatives" will still support whomever is on the republican ticket simply because to not vote republican means you are supporting socialism/marxism/ect. the fox news propaganda of the last 20 years has been very effective in convincing people that "liberal" is a bad word and an insult and that to vote for any democrat is a vote for socialism. i know lots of people who voted for trump in 2020 simply b/c of this.

trump was never a republican and was not even a conservative - he just marketed himself that way and all the morons in this country bought into it. now he totally owns the GOP.

    Sad, but true.
As if his ego wasn't big enough. He loves that he can lie his ass off, and do whatever he wants, and the majority of the party still defends and supports his madness. Disturbing and pathetic.

We are talking about 2 seperate things.

    The presidency and the house.

How do you balance in the fact that we got 2 senate seats out of GA when most people thought we would lose seats in the senate?

It seems like you are kinda picking and choosing what to focus on.

Not at all. We have razor majorities in both chambers of Congress. The Dems got out campaigned due to "defend the police" and "culture war stuff".
