As opposed to the current President opening his mouth asking to allow for more drilling and opening of reserves to help America get through colder winters without so much reliance on foreign fuels to heat homes. Happy liberal winter! Stay cold.
Then you'll be saying oooh can't wait for winter. Just like that weather channel commercial went: "Maybe the rain don't like you" Maybe Artic Cold fricken Northers don't like YOU. ever think about that...huh?
You need an outdoor fire pit, some firewood, some brew, so you can become ONE with the winter elements. wake up at 5 am, put on a flannel, go chop a tree stump in your backyard and pretend you are in the canadian mountains. that always works for me. love it, you only live once.
Umm, yeah. I could promise you I wouldn't. I'm a summer junky. I love sitting poolside with a brew. I love boating in the gulf or around Clear Lake. I love the sun and the heat. I dig the sweat. Cold weather can suck my balls.
I'm fat...I love cool weather...Would rather have 4 months of 45 degrees than the 4 months of 90 that we have. i suffer in Houston summer...Course I don't want it freezing either.
I think that's a fallacy. Ever heard of the 'squitos in Minnesota and Alaska? I heard they're considered that State Bird of Minnesota.
Favorite spot for me is in an outdoor jacuzzi while it's snowing and w/ cold beer and a good view of the surrounding Rockies...after a long day of skiing. It's been too long...
I wish it was 100 degrees all year around. The cold weather does significantly lower my electric bill by 80-85 percent
talk about shortsighted. ok heres a thought. we stay warm for what....15 years before that crap runs out? and were cold again, and more polluted not even considering the other effects of drilling in the alaskan reserve. IMO lets reserves be natural, develop more alternatives, and wear an extra sweater. we're all gonn have to make sacrifices, whether we like it or not. just something us thickheaded americans cant seem to understand. just my two cents haha. let the flame-fest begin. persecute the 'outside the box' thinker!
I was in North Dakota two weeks ago and when I stepped out of the airport in Bismarck..it was -16. I'll tell you..it was weird to breath. You can feel the cold air penetrate your nasal cavity. While I was there, the lows every night were anywhere from -5 to 7 and the highs were from 15 to 25. It was COLD...but luckily summer and no ice. There was plenty of snow left over. Funny thing is in North Dakota it is very dry..so I actually think 35 in Houston is more uncomfortable than 10 in North Dakota. It's too damn wet and humid in Houston.
I've said that many times. I lived at 8000 ft in Colorado, hit -30 a number of times, but very very dry. Obe -33 degree morning I flew from there to Chicago... where it was about 40 degrees but windy and wet. Froze my arse off. Of course even though Houston/Chicago may feel less comfortable to your skin, the cold will still kill much quicker in ND or CO. When I would go out at night to throw the trash, my teeth would start chattering in a few seconds.
from www.news8austin.com today: Arctic Air Update ... Difficulties in forecasting the end of the week remain with the timing of a second cold front. Yesterday, I wrote that it looked like another piece of the cold air might get here by late Thursday into Friday. The newest temperature runs don't show this to be the case and, as a result, highs on Friday are forecast to be near 60 under mostly cloudy skies. Still, the ridge of high pressure in the upper levels is still forecast to build into western Canada and Alaska so that our wind flow above, by the weekend, is going to allow a much colder portion of that large Arctic air mass to slide across our area by next Saturday. This forecast will be altered again and again since the models don't handle cold outbreaks for our area very well. Here's what I'm going with now. Highs on Saturday in the lower 50s with that colder air in by Saturday afternoon. Temperatures are forecast into the 20s by the morning of Sunday 2/4, then the middle 30s for highs that afternoon. The one constant that remains is that whenever that colder air does arrive, it should get here with no rain. Have a good day. Meteorologist Rich Segal
What exactly is "severe winter weather" for Houston? When it drops below 40? For the ones hoping for a long hard freeze to avoid work and school, let's hope your pipes don't blow up while you're home away from work and school.
