Okay, I'll bite. So can you use this feature to get into any site that requires passwords. If you know what I'm saying.
Is there a sort of Magic Wand for Firefox, Opera uses it and its extremely useful and I've been trying to find one for Firefox but I can't
I couldn't tell you about the Wand -- I know that Firefox 0.8 used to ask if you wanted to save form data, but I don't know if 0.9 does. I wouldn't be surprised if an extension eventually comes out that has that feature. BTW, I figured I should post this: The server to which the data is sent is apparently down. MS says that they worked with some folks to get it taken down, but I haven't seen any independent confirmation that this is the reason it's down. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that it's still safe to use IE -- it's not like this couldn't happen again (the flaws are still unpatched), and there are a number of other IE issues that can be exploited. More articles about IE flaws: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/06/10/ms_inpatched_ie_flaw/ http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16445 update: CERT (The US Cypber Emergency Readiness Team) has recommended that IE users look into using the alternatives (Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, Mac, Linux): source: The Washington Post
CERT recommends that Explorer users consider other browsers that are not affected by the attack, such as Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape and Opera. Mac, Linux and other non-Windows operating systems are immune from this attack. For people who continue to use the Internet Explorer, CERT and Microsoft recommend setting the browser's security settings to "high," but that can impair some browsing functions.

I haven't used it all that much, but everywhere I used it, it has worked. I've used it for a couple of newspaper site and once for Fileplanet since I forgot my old login and didn't feel like getting an email. Didn't even think about it, but they do have one for this site, though I haven't tried it. Like the name suggests, I only use it to get past sites that "bug" me with their registration requests.
I'm confident you're right. I think you can find holes in just about any piece of software. But no one seems to be trying to exploit the holes in Firefox, certainly not like people are the holes in IE.
Yeah but if I visit a site using Mozilla and it has that stuff on it, will it affect my IE because there are some people who use my computer and still use IE and not Firefox?
It will only affect IE if you visit that site with IE. Those who use IE open the system up to such vulnerabilities when THEY visit those sites, so they may install it, but when you are using firefox, you won't have that problem. Get the people using IE to stop and make them use Firefox . . . it is your machine after all. If you don't want that crap on your computer, don't let them use IE.
Sorry to top this again, but I just wanted to let you all know that Firefox 0.9.1 was released today. If you've been having any problems with 0.9, you should get this release. It fixes problems mainly with the theme and extension managers, plus it cleans up the default theme a little bit (much better!).
I actually do a bit of bug checking and filing, but lately I haven't been able to do much of anything. I'm planning on adding a few minor (VERY) features to it (perhaps in an extension, but I think they'd be useful and minor enough to be in the core program), and making a skin during the summer, once things cool down a bit for me here at work. I really do love this project though, for lots of reasons. I've been watching the Mozilla project since around Milestone 8 (Summer of 99), and while I really liked Mozilla once it got usable (around 0.75), Firefox has been a complete revelation. I follow it daily and recommend it to everyone. I haven't come across many people who don't like it, and those who don't usually aren't utilizing its best features (tabbed browsing). I guess it's strange what makes some people passionate . . . too bad it's not for something important like human rights or something, but I guess proper web browsing is a start . . .
