Whatever, so they both had a down year. The Big East went undefeated in bowl season. I suppose that would make them conference numero uno.

Precisely. A few years ago people were moaning the death of the Big East when all its power teams went to the ACC.

Talk about your underachieving conferences - the ACC takes the cake this year.

I don't think we're talking about all-time here. This season, the Big 10 was clearly overrated.

this is all that needs to be said.

however, the SEC circle-jerk that is in full effect right now is killing me.

At least the Big 10 had 2 good team (although they didnt win their bowl game). What did the big 12 accomplish, nothing. No offense to UT fans but they are overrated almost every year in football and basketball.

I don't think the SEC did badly in any of their bowl games...

    Alabama only lost by 3

    Kentucky beat Clemson

    South Carolina beat Houston

    Georgia beat Virginia Tech

Tennessee lost by 10 to Penn St (which is the SEC's largest bowl loss I believe)

    Auburn beat Nebrasa

    Arkansas lost by 3

LSU and Florida both won by large margins.

So tell me why the SEC shouldn't beat their chest. Name a conference that did better in their bowl games this year.

The SEC were the best conference overall this season. But the fact that the teams in the league kept beating one another hurt their overall records. The same thing happens in SEC basketball (and you saw who two of the teams were in the NCAA Final Four last year)

As I said, these next 8 months of SEC chest-pounding will make the eventual hubris that much better next season.

Thank you. Many critics discounted the notion that the SEC cannibalized itself (as some predicted would happen preseason). I don't know why it's wrong to cheer when you're successful. Just like when people talk about the Rockets after a win. If you take offense to that, you should stop following sports. Either that or you're just upset you were proven wrong. ;)

This year was a down year for both conferences football wise. Even the Big-10 that boasted the number 1+2 teams for much of the season had a decline. Last year the conference had Michigan State, Northwestern, Minnesota, Iowa, and Penn State all playing at high levels. This year it only had 3 real strong teams. And yes the SEC will always trump everything despite what the media will tell you...

This is a great point. Everyone talks about the Big10 being smashmouth, grind it out and the SEC being so fast...weather has to play a factor in that. Speed doesn't really matter if it's being neutralized by cold/wind/other weather conditions that don't occur down south too often.

    ACC is the most overrated.

    Big Ten then Big 12.

SEC is generally overrated but this year they did themselves alright.
