Thanks a lot for the info. I hope this means Dan will get more PT next year cuz he does have a nice shot, but if we rely on good shooters only does that mean we keep walt and bull? Will that end up causing langhi to stay on the bench? Just a small question for you experts... ------------------ PrOuD V-P of Whitey Deluxe, Danforth Langford, and any other langhi fan club there may be...
The Rockets thinking about Webber and thinking about running the Kings offense. Interesting concept. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Resistance is futile....you will be assimilated.
A: Thanks, Clutch, and Doc Rocket. You are the wind beneath my wings. B: About 'Los: I can think of only two things. Either he dogged Rudy out and it got back to the coaching staff OR (far more likely) Los, like Cato, was denied major minutes because both are trade bait and we could risk neither injuries nor loss of a draft pick that would help us move up in the draft or trade for a major player. I'm glad about the Webber news. Remember when I posted "For what it's worth insider info?"about a player in the West who believes Webber will arrange a trade to New York and not go to Houston? It took me some thinking down that same thread but it is possible that Webber wants his team to believe that he made an effort to give the Kings some value in return as he runs off to the Knicks; this is what they believe now. (Trust me on this one.) This could soften the blow of his leaving the Kings. Then, if such a trade doesn't materialize, or if Chris prefers what he sees in Houston--making moves to become a contender (and having necessary cap space)--he can sign with the Rox after all. Maybe he's just keeping us in his peripheral vision. Landing Battier and Webber in the off-season would be not one but two major-ass coups for the Rox. Getting rid of Cato's lame ass would be the icing on the cake. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROXTXIA (edited April 25, 2001).]
Mango, I know I'm not who you asked, but I see Collier playing high post or wing, with Langhi staying strictly wing. I think you'll see Jason move in a triangle motion around the 2 post spots and the free throw line area depending on where the ball is. I don't see Dan being a pick setter. I see him spotting up for the midrange jumper and attacking the rack when the ball comes to him on quick ball movement when the defense is rotating. I'm just trying to think how the NBA zone will compare to the current college zone. I just think it's gonna be suffocating. The NBA players will be able to cover more space in less time........ ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited April 25, 2001).]
TPL, No problem with you tackling the question. Another query for you, heypartner or ?. Rudy has often done Small Ball in the past. Would he be tempted to try Tall Ball with Jason(PF), Dan(SF) and Mr Unknown...Dream?(C) Of course it would have to be in the right situation. If the Rockets build their team around the zone defense, they will be making a big mistake, because I am confident that these new rules will last no more than one or two seasons. ------------------ Well that's it, the season's over. Protrolls.com! Actually starting to resemble a website.

I only see him going tall ball if he has confidence in the passing ability of the big men he would put out there. The only tall lineup that the Rockets could put out there that I think would work with the current team would be Taylor/Thomas/Collier. This could change depending on who the Rockets acquire through the draft or free agency. If Webber came here, I know they would use him in the high post. I'm assuming Dream isn't playing next season. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited April 25, 2001).]
It saddens me to hear that Los will not be back, but it will also be nice to see someone like Detriot sign him and let him succeed there knowing the Rockets gave him a chance. I seriously doubt it is anything personal, or anything he said to the team. I think it is mostly just to save some of the cap $ for the FA market. Carlos probably has the biggest heart on the team, and I know he could be a factor off the bench for this team. He would be back if it were my choice. ------------------ [This message has been edited by DieHard Rocket (edited April 25, 2001).]

I'm not sure I agree. Cato is definitely trade bait, but something else is up with the Los situation. If you are going to offer bait, you make it as attractive as possible (decent minutes, touches on offense, etc.) so that other teams will bite. You do not, on the other hand, let your bait rot on the end of the bench all season. ------------------ women love me, records make me poo
Great info clutch! Hopefully they can figure out what we want to do in regards to the zone and be set in what personnel we need to look at in the draft and FA.
Mango, If you would call the pre-title Seattle teams that would give us grief with Perkins Kemp Schrempf Hawkins Payton going "Tall Ball", then yes, Rudy has plans for "Tall Ball". Maybe with zones we should talk "Big Ball", too. That is my prediction of defenses placing 3-4 prototype PF/Cs on the court at the same time with one dribbling guard who can break a press. Needlessly to say, Rudy's comments are 180 degrees opposite of taking the Big Ball path.
You just gave me bad memories with that lineup. Damn that team use to kill us in Seattle. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Hey Clutch and Doc Rocket, you guys have all the good inside dirt. That's why this site is the best in all the web. I believe with the rule changes this coming season it is going to be interesting! I hope Rudy and the coaching staff can come up with a good strategy. I also liked Carlos, he always played his butt off when he was given minutes. As for the draft Rudy and co. are the hardest to judge on who they draft. Clutch & Doc Rocket keep the good inside info. coming!!! ------------------ take it one day at a time
Any chance we will be able to get either out of our lottery pick. That would be really awesome, but I have a feeling they will go lower in the draft. You never know, they may be there for Houston. I was one of the few who actually thought that Mo Peterson should go in the first five last year and he should have, but didnt. ------------------ "I would like to live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were ever supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever." -Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss Universe contest
