Not to burst y'all's bubble, but a simple permission slip for the field trip would have alleviated this. Besides, she didn't get fired, people.

And I have no problem with nude art, but we all know that people can get easily offended (re: this board). Best to place in the permission slip that said museum may contain artful works of minimal nudity. Then the parent is responsible.

Exactly.. I figured permission slips were standard for field trips. I know when I was in high school, they always handed out those things.

Not having your contract renewed is essentially the way they fire teachers when they don't have just cause and they don't want to pay unemployment. Find a teacher and ask them what 'not having your contract renewed' means.

This requires the forethought that a parent might freak out over this which is as far as I am concerned absurd. Should they start handing out permission slips to read Farenheit 451 now? I think to be sure you would probably have to begin having permission slips for every possible thing that occurs in a school.

Why single out Texas? That boob who ordered the statue covered at Justice, in Washington, was from one of those goofy states that start with an M... Misery, or something like that. The "Don't Show Me" state. The one named after a river. Asscroft, wasn't it? I think Sam pointed him out earlier. Real fugly lookin' guy.

First, that wasn't placed in this thread. Second, if a dozen teachers took the students, why weren't they suspended? Sounds like there is more going on with this teacher. A school district doesn't fire someone for this.

Parents can get riled up about a lot of things. But this reasoning is at the school board level. Whether it is taken out or not is up to the district.

All I'm saying is that permission slips would have solved the whole issue.

You're right. It's not just Texas - it's most of this country. Well, the sad thing is, these places are only hurting themselves....and teaching us how Americans and the Taliban have a lot in common.

I thought you always needed a permision slip from parents for any kind of field trip?

Anyway, what if you take kids to a farm and they see animals doing each other. Should you have to put in the permission slip: Warning, child may see animals having sex? Also, Cow boobs will be exposed.

Sometimes it helps to actually read the story before commenting on it. ;)

    [rquoter]
In a newsletter e-mailed to parents this week, the principal and Rick Reedy, superintendent of the Frisco Independent School District, said that Ms. McGee had been denied transfer to another school in the district, that her annual contract would not be renewed and that a replacement had been interviewed.

Sorry 4 teachers and a dozen parents.

    My points still stand.

Apparently you posted while I was editing so I moved this to a new post.

The article also identifies her as the art teacher. Most elementary schools have a single individual who is in charge of all art instruction. The other teachers accompanied took the students as chaperones, but as she was the art teacher she probably would be the one who put the trip together.

Fatty you should have to get a permission slip signed before you hit "submit reply".

Nice retort, Sammy. Exactly what I expect from you. That's why I pretty much ignore everything you say, these days. Apparently, you still feel the need to goad others.

And they call me immature...

Right, and that's why you're replying to this thread...next time read the article it's based on so you won't have to revert to "cover fatty's ass from looking irretrievably stupid mode" so quickly from your preferrred "hey hey it's outlandish loose cannon fatty looking for attention mode". Cheers.

How exactly did I try to cover my... nevermind. I simply stated that no teacher should be fired when there were 4 other teachers present. Period. Not see how I was back-tracking with that.

As far as being outlandinsh? I write what I feel like. If people choose to respond, so be it. Besides, for someone who posts 12 times a day, you're hardly one to talk about trying to get attention.

Perhaps I'm not the only one who ignores you...
