Video I came across brings to light how NBA and college teams are switching to extremes
and can explain some of the difficulties being experienced by our young guys on offense
    and defense.

    Truly mind provoking.

Nice video and credit to Hoopvision68 who put it together.

I’m a big fan of the Bucks’ guard Harden from behind defense. Also the double at the half court line. Interesting defensive strategies, Cotton.

    Playing against defense:
Switch defense is common now in the NBA but even things like full court press.

...Was used sparingly in the NBA, or situationally like at end of games. But the fact that Nick Nurse pulled it out to get his lead and used it whenever they wanted a turnover is concerning. Rick Pitino used it back in the day, was laughed at, because it wouldn't work against NBA type of ball handling. It looked like kryptonite against young Rockets last game. Ball handling and ball protection melted away.

    Turnovers last game.
    Tate: 3
    Wood: 2
    KPJ: 3
    Green: 3
    KMart: 5
    Sengun: 2
    JC/Nwaba/Mathews: 1 each.

Team total 21, this is as high as some of the games early in the season, when team played too fast.

Raptors are long, but middle of pack in DEF RTG 13th (we are last). They pull something like that out and the young guys lose composure and don't look like they're NBA ready. We don't have NBA players, we have college players in NBA jerseys.

Instead of KPJ/Tate going to UFC with the owner, they should be home studying tapes. No sense of urgency.

    Playing defense:
The concern is Silas is not making the rookies, sophomores, and Wood defensively accountable. These are really bad habits to start their NBA careers. The teachers are not prioritizing their teachings. Once these guys are set in their ways, they're not going to magically turn it on by 2023 summer. Silas is doing a disservice to them. Even if the young guys go to other teams, they're at a disadvantage because they never played good defense here.

Read and react works against anything.

Green was being benched for bad defense and has shown improvement

    KPJ has improved greatly

Wood is the huge problem because we have no rim protection and with no hand check it’s super hard for guards to cut off drives

Mathews is hustle but isn’t a great defender
