My Grandma was 84 yrs old and had a massive heart attack climbing the steps delivering meals to home bound old people --- thats how I wanna go - live 80+ years and die still being productive.
Best: Something painless and quick Worst: Eaten alive by lion or bear.. Burned alive... flesh burning... Ouch Getting beheaded Insurgent style... Damn!
Best way- old, but knowing the end is near and being able to say goodbye to everyone and have them with you at the end.
being eaten by a Hippo or Elephant would be worst. They have those big, dull molars that will crunch on you for a long time.
I have to agree with your best. The Romans were great at coming up with horrible ways to die. They had a lot of different ways to carry out the death penalty depending on your crime. We all know about crucifixion, which is pretty bad. I remember reading that one of the punishments was being thrown in the Tiber in a sewn-up sack cloth with wild cats.
I have to imagine that drowning, being burned to death, and being drawn-quartered are some suck ass ways to go
Eaten head-first by some giant worm-thing like in Peter Jackson's King Kong would be pretty horrible. Good way to go- classic surrounded by loved ones.

The worst would have to be either drowning or being burned alive. Any death that has great pain and suffering to it would be absolutely awful. The best would be something like a heart attack or an aneurysm bursting and it causing instaneous (sp?) death.
best: being in the center area of a nuclear blast--immediate death worst: being in the fallout area of a nuclear blast--exposed to very high levels of radiation and would die a slow, agonizing death..
