John Elway should be at the top of that list.

So, you think Trent Dilfer is as good a QB as Brady, Favre, etc?

Stat wise, Moon kills. Look at Broadway Joe, his stats aren't that good, but he won.

Manning had a couple of hot years and that's it. He has yet to win a big game. I cannot understand how anyone would ever rank him ahead of Brady. Stat padder vs clutch performer. Give me the champ everytime. Did Manning end his pact with the satan? Right now he has thrown 2 TDs. Freakin' Tim Rattay and Gus Ferrotte has 5.

In all 3 losses, the defense let us down. However, Moon's turnovers hurt us in the KC and Buffalo losses. In Buffalo, IIRC, he had 2 late interceptions that led to 10 points for the Bills.

Against the Chiefs, he fumbled, must have been, 5 or 6 times and lost 2 or 3 of them, one of which led to TD that put KC up by 8 points.

He giveth, but he also taketh away.

Moon will never be remembered as anything resembling a clutch QB.

Moon retired officially in 2001 so he is eligible next year right? Isn't it a 5 year wait?

I'm just trying to get more information out of you before I blast that comment. :) I understand the point behind the comment, I'm just waiting to point out that it was an irrelevant one.

no he will not, however in the buffalo game if they weren't so stubbornly against running they could have put that away easily. The Buffalo game more than anything else is an example of how great the run and shoot could be and it exposed all its weakness. Not running when you're up thirty is insane.

I always call Tony Banks "Moon Jr." because he throws a great deep ball and he fumbles alot.

I think being the first significant black qb and what he had to endure, not just having to play up North but some of the racial insults he and his family heard at games along with play should put him in the top 25 and easily in the HOF.

Joe Namath might be the most overrated athlete in pro sports history.

47 more interceptions than touchdown passes
Only 2 seasons where he had more TDs than INTs
    BARELY 50% completion percentage
A sparkling 60-62-4 record with the Jets in seasons when he had the most pass attempts

If it weren't for that stupid "guarantee" in Super Bowl 3, he would barely be remembered as an NFL QB. He's gravytrained his entire life off that one game

I don't doubt that there are many quarterbacks that I haven't seen that are better than the ones that I have. I think Moon should be in the Top 25.

There are 8 of those listed that I have no opinion of. I did see a documentary a while back that talked about how great Otto Graham was.

After looking over Moon in comparison to other QBs, there is no question IMO that he's a top 25-er:

Oh, and looking at Joe Namath's stats, I completely agree that he's overrated. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but it just doesn't look impressive at all -- Kerry Collins' stats are better.

the other thing about moon is this, no one can say he was qbing the best team in the AFC any year during his tenure. For most of those years, Buffalo was hands down the best team in the AFC. The Oilers were a classic example of Offense wins games, defense win championships because they never had a really good defense. A few good players like Ray Childress but never a really good D, and never a franchise back.

With the exception of the year we faced KC in the playoffs. We had one of the best defenses I've ever seen when Buddy Ryan was our defensive coordinator.

I believe that every member of our d-line had over 10 sacks... Childress, Fuller, Jones, Williams. We had Al Smith, Michael Barrow, Wilber Marshall (didn't play much), Eddie Robinson at LB. Chris Dishman, Darryl Lewis, Marcus Robertson, and Blaine Bishop at the DB positions. Just about our entire defense was made up of Pro Bowlers. All of those sacks by that d-line goes to show you how pathetic the Texans pass rush is.

However, this was towards the end of the run-and-shoot days when defenses started to figure it out.
