Do ya'll think that Bryce Drew was or would be a better back-up point guard than Mooch? All I remember is alot more ball movement when we had Drew or even Matt Maloney, insted of dribble, dribble, dribble. Now, I know we had quite different personel then as opposed to now, but does that really change the fact that all Moochie does is dribble around, try to get fancy, and misses passing opportunities. I really can't recall a time when Mooch has made a great assist. Maybe I'm asking too much, but isn't the main job of a BACK-UP point guard to distribute the ball, to get the offense going (especially when Mooch is subbing in for Francis)? I feel like Drew, even though he isn't a great player, he got many of his teammates involved by dishing off to them. Am I right, or is Moochie just what the Rockets need as their back0up 1 man?

This topic was beaten to death long ago. Here is what I posted in September, 2000:

Not supporting anyone, but here are some stats.

On a PER MINUTE basis for their careers, if the players received 32 min of playing time an average game would be:

    Shots Made: Moochie 4.4 / Drew 3.8 / Maloney 3.4

    3PT made: Maloney 1.8 / Drew 1.4 / Moochie 0.8

Free thows made: Moochie 3.6 / Maloney & Drew 1.0

    Assists: Moochie 6.0 / Drew 3.95 / Maloney 3.7

    Steals: Moochie 1.5 / Drew .98 / Maloney .97

    Turnovers: Maloney 1.6 / Drew 1.8 / Moochie 1.9

    Points: Moochie 13.2 / Drew 9.9 / Maloney 9.6

Maloney and Drew are reasonably comparable. Bryce may have an edge in creating his own shot over Maloney. Neither can not get to the hole or free throw line or dish like Moochie.

Moochie is the better back up point hand down.

And another plus is that he has won several games for us and he is a fan favorite and slowly getting more and more national exposure(Fro).

Drew never came close to any of this.

Apparently not. Haven't you been reading all the Moochie-bashing?

Yes, he was a fan favorite, before he signed to that contract of his.

Based on his pay AND (non) performance he must have played for the Rockets. :)

Actually I think he was on the Chicago roster.

I liked Moochie too, until he got overpaid, IMHO.

Well Moochie isn't a bad backup if Rudy treated him more like a backup.
