i think moochie played fairly well for us when he got in games this year. i am sad to see him leave again. the trade does seem good from the trade exception perspective though
It's a trade exception, not a signing exception. More likely we'll pay Span with part of our MLE, and then try to do a sign and trade with the TE (unless we end up using before the deadline). Depending on how the deal was structured, we could have as much as a $4.2 mill TE. With 10% raises and an extra year for sign and trades, that would add up to a possible 31.5 million over 6 years. It's not quite a full MLE which is $30 mill over 5 years, but it's still not too shabby.
I think we should all remember he is only 21 years old. I like having a kid with upside and shooting touch with size, if he could turn into a scorer from the 3 spot and slide Tmac back to the 2 in 3 years or so and a few hits of crack. but you know he offers us at least youth and hope, its not like you could even pretend to say that moochie will turn into something.
Twas a bit of wishful thinking of mine, and thanks for running the numbers. Further proof of the greatness of this BBS. Might as well utilize the TE before the trade deadline then, since our TE still doesn't compete with MLE money all that well unless we go crazy on the # of years. But even if nothing directly comes of this trade, the reduced payroll here will take away some impediments to future increased spending. Great trade.
A question about the TE: if the rockets have a 3.4mil TE for one year, can we only get a maximum of 3.4mil in salary when we trade or is it 125% of the salary like a normal trade? Because being able to get back 4.25mil in salary would be a lot nicer than 3.4. And about Lampe having potential, forget about it. He's a dud and won't see any more playing time than Zendon Hamilton did for us (none). He's been on three different teams and couldn't get off the bench for any of them. Mike D'antoni and Byron Scott are not tyrants, yet he couldn't get along with them. Worse yet, Scott wanted him to at least bang down low once in a while and he refused. If he isn't willing to do the dirty work, he's useless for JVG. His work ethic has long been proven as terrible and he's unwilling to play physically. The kid's no Charles Oakley. I wouldn't be surprised to see him waived either immediately (so we can sign John Lucas) or over the summer.
I'm not sure why a trade thread involving Moochie Norris is stickied. Should be on page 3 by now. lol
ok, didn“t dawson say the exact same things, the day we acquired misrad turcan/dan langhi/eddie griffin??
Okay I have never seen Lampe's play, but how is his game compared to Padgett? Is there any similarity at all?
The time we traded for Mike James and Zendon, Zendon was immediately waived... CD didn't even comment on him. For CD to comment on Lampe... he must think he can be of some use. I believe we will use this guy as a Cook, LaFrentz type of guy. We have nobody that can guard the PF's/C's that shoot outside, and Lampe may be it.
Dan Langhi doesn't give me much hope. But if he can punk Stoudemire or at least piss him off and distract him from the game whenever we put Lampe in on him, then perhaps he can serve a purpose. It would be a terrible thing for Stoudemire and Lampe to both be ejected from a game. But then Amare has to get healthy so we can try it. JVG will figure this kid out by season end and then he is either cut or re-signed. A few months of Mutombo elbows in practice will let us know if we have a real tall 3 or a real center.
I don't know, if it's the same story, but I've heard that he dunked hard over Amare in one of practices and it has pissed off Amare really much. I don't know, if it was followed by fight, but still. Guy has some nice upside. You don't have too much talented, exceptionally versatile young big men, who you can get for Moochie. Give some praise to CD!
Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw Boris Diaw It couldn't hurt to think it...
Before reading the article on this trade, I definitely knew that this was preparations to dump Norris's salary for Lampe's. This may mean that Bobby is coming back. I hope so. Rafer and Sura could split time at the PG I guess. I just don't see him (Lampe) staying with the Rockets too long. Haven't heard too much about Lampe, but he may backup the 4 or 5 spot for a few minutes once he gets into JVG's rotation.
I hate to see Moochie go again...I'll never forget when he walked the scorer's table in 2001 when he hit a 21-footer to win the game against the former "Miller-Time" Pacers in triple overtime. That was when he was in his prime. I don't know what happened though with him. He made some notable contributions to the Rockets highlight reel and that game was no different.
On the surface, kinda strange, but me thinks, as does other people, that this sets up something bigger...We'll see...
I was thinking it. It never hurts to have a young throw in blossom. Most championship teams have had luck like this. How about him becoming a Pryzbilla?
