    IMO, Jeff praises Mooch because:
    1) Mooch tries hard in practice. It is just a matter of time until he shows it in the game.

    2) Jeff does not want to destroy what little confidence Mooch has left. If he does that, he might as well release Mooch now.

I imagine Mooch is given second or third chance until he does more harm than good to the team that can not be covered by the rest of the team. When that happens, Wilks will take his place.

    Errrp... I agree.

I was trying to be funny, and probably just didn't succeed.

The thread title is unnecessarily over the top with hyperbole. There is no need for that here. Only a raging idiot would make such an inflammatory and exaggerated statement.

This is the worst thread in the history of the world.

I don't think pro coaches dole out minutes trying to give players confidence they should already have. Especially one like VG. I also don't think Mooch is so bad that he needs to be released. He just isn't worth what he is getting paid.

I agree that his chances will be limited this year unlike with Rudy.

Yea i agreed. From what i seen of Moochie in the preseason and 1st regular season game, he is the weakest player on the Rockets' team. Has no fundamental whatsoever. Can't pass the ball and is too small to compete on the court. No defense and clueless a lot of time. Rockets should get rid of him if they want to improve. I bet there are even better player out there backing Steve than Moochie. Also, he turns over too much.

Moochie is absolutely a horrible player in terms of NBA standards but he isn't as bad as everyone thinks. I think Moochie got a bad rap in part because of his hair. If he never had that afro there wouldn't be so many complaints. Don't get me wrong, there would be people saying Moochie sucks cause he really does but not to the extent that the bbs users have made.

Therefore, don't play bad if you have an unconventional hair style. Which makes me think, what would people think if Nash played horribly? Ahh who cares he is already a mult-millionare.

Fair enough, Moochie isn't the worst basketball player in the world. He's only the worst basketball player for the Rockets, the only players I actually care about.

For the record, x-t-x, his hair was the only thing I found endearing about the guy.

We've already ditched Posey and now Eddie, my previous two least favorite Rockets. We'll see if #3 can spare himself from the wrath of JVG.

I definitely think that Moochie is sucking lately, which is confusing the heck out of me. Two years ago he was one of the best backup pg in the league, hence the contract we gave him. Last year after he got paid, he just had no desire to play well, but this year he's fit and he's still sucking. I think that's what's confusing me the most.

You are naive. Moochies hair was the only reason he got his extension. The sucking really started after he shaved it off.

Or maybe you don't watch the Rockets enough to know that he has had his head shaved since before the preseason.

jvg is falling in love with mooch like rudy did, even though mooch sucks. why was mooch in at the end when we needed a huge defensive stop and he got owned?

NAAAAAAA...JVG is using the first 5-7 games to see what he really has when the speed is full......I guarantee he is not falling in love with Mooch....Mooch is not his type of guard anyway....he likes self control and maturity.....he hates showboating and dribbling...I promise you, Moochie days are numbered in the significant minutes roll...watch when Pike and Adrian come back..he will run with these guys bringing the ball up and subbing at all the guard spots and Mooch will be out...

do not be surprised is wilks gets some small minutes to test the water on the road....

Mooch has 3-5 games to try and change JVG...but I think the writing on the wall is coming...another Rudy/CD player thrown aside....

I think eversince the NBA went to the zone defense thing, Moochie style of playing became obsolete.

I have to agree Moochie is pretty bad. I have never seen someone demand so much credit when he hits a shot. It makes me sick seeing him act like “Mr. Cool Guy” after he makes a jumper. THAT IS YOUR JOB YOU IDIOT! YOU LOW EXPECTATION HAVING BUM! You are not supposed to be excited when you hit a shot because that is what you are paid to do. If you hit 30 shots, yeah jump up and down. But until then settle you a$$ down. It almost makes me want to barf when I remember Moochie was making more than Francis a year ago. He should be getting a ton less but no, we choose to pay him 4M a year to do nothing. But then again, he is a very smart guy. He grows this afro and changes it to corn rows every day to spark an interest all over Houston with him. Now he is this phenomena. “Gee bob, I wonder how Moochie will have his hair today?” How could the rockets ever let go of a fan favorite? I would have given him, his afro and his sorry game the boot long ago. People say Cato is overpaid… no Moochie is overpaid.
