Moochie Norris is the worst player that I have ever seen.

It was pretty obvious that a backup PG shouldve been the #1 priority heading into the offseason.

So instead of signing a Travis Best and his 59 game playoff experience, we waste our money on Adrian Griffin, a worthless member on this team. Typical.

#1 priority over finding a coach and establishing the starting SF?

    2002-03 assists
    Best - 106 in 1,857 min.
    AGriffin - 105 in 1,373 min.

    2002-03 ppg
    Best - 8.4 in 25.1 mpg @ MIA
    AGriffin - 4.4 in 18.6 @ DAL

    2003-04 Costs
    Best - 939k @ age 31
    AGriffin - 689k @ age 29

Best's per minute stats last season were no better than Norris's. A few more ppg in way more minutes.

Ok, let me rephrase that: Personnel wise , it was our #1 priority, even including SF.

    1. Your stats are misleading. Griffin played on a much better team. It's easy to get assists when you're surrounded by Nowitzki, Nash, Van Excel, and Micheal Finley.

That versus a semi-cripple Eddie Jones and rookie Caron Butler.

    2. Moochie vs Travis Best? Hmmm.

Moochie was a horrible player last year. This is the reason Steve Francis and Cat both played over 40 minutes +. Consequently, Steve's defense suffered.

When someone asked Rudy last year, why Moochie was playing, his response was "Because we don't have anyone else". We still don't.

    3. The Rocket's main agenda heading into the season was bringing in veteran leadership to help us make the playoffs. Is that why we brought in Piatkowski who has played in 3 playoff games in 9 seasons?

Compare that with Travis Best and his 59 playoff games, more than the entire Rocket's team combined.

Veterans or veteran leadership with playoff experience?

It's that type intangibles that someone like a Travis Best would bring.

I thought it was a pretty obvious concept but for some, even the obvious is difficult to grasp.

I wonder why JVG didn't play Wilks ahead of Moochie. The kid looked decent in the preseason. I guess the coach sees something I don't.

It never ceases to amaze me how huge an impact Moochie can make on a game in so few minutes. He puts the team in a huge whole every time he steps on the court.

    half court violations
    24 sec violations
passing the ball to the stands
    fumbling the ball away
giving the ball to the other team
    taking an ill advised shot

These are all things you can count on Mooch doing within the course of a game.

Yesterday morning after the game I thought of starting a thread "Where is the Moochie SUCKS thread???" I decided not to do it. Now I see it was started during the game but fell off the first page the next day. Now it is back and should stay on the first page.

5 TO in 15 mins is horrible. He is leading the league in TO per minute. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/bycategory?cat=Fielding&conference=NBA&year=season_2003&sort=36

Its only the first game so lets not start the "CUT Moochie now" thread until at least the second game.

You have to appreciate the extra effort Moochie gives coming to camp in shape and dedicated. But he is just terrible. He has a negative assist to turnover ratio and that doesn't get it done.

Clutch the bear can play better basketball than moochie and those of you who think he should be playing in street basketball are dumb too....what moves does mooch have? bounce the ball with his ****** bouncing as well? Man, any streetballer in the street can rape mooch 11-0. He doesn't even have the first priority of being a point guard in the whole of basketball..not only the nba..which is to know how to dribble and hold the ball without turning it over 5 million times per game.

Moochie is an enigma that will never be solved. How can one NBA player make the same r****ded mistakes over and over and over again? It is not for man to know.

WHY does he stand ten feet out past the 3 pt. line, dribbling in place for 20 seconds to start every play? WHY does he consistently dribble into traffic, inevitably bouncing the ball off someone's foot? WHY does he jack up hopeless runners? Mark those down next to "Who built Stonehenge?"

Moochie's a liability for the Rockets. He must be a really great guy for them not to all hate him. Sure, everybody makes mistakes in games, but man. It's like a syndrome with that dude. If he would just play within himself and within the system... but there's no "if onlys" with Mooch. You just have to grit your teeth and wait for him to sit.

Want to know how bad Moochie is?

Van Gundy is praising him. Play poorly, and he'll crucify you in press conferences. Play well, and he'll point out your flaws. Play very well, and he'll give you grudging praise after trashing you for 5 minutes. Play ridiculously ****ty, and he'll say nice things about you.

    I'm not worried about Mooch.

In the end (season), if Mooch doesn't perform at the level that Jeff wants. He'll be gone. It's up to Mooch.

    Simple as that.

I'll feel he play better today (he better!).

Ya know, DavidS, the more I read your posts, the more I'm convinced you intentionally take an opposing stance than the majority of other posters.

Do you honestly think that Moochie is the end-all-be-all of the success of this team.

    Get real!

That's why I'm most cricital of our "stars."

Rudy and Francis, and sometimes Yao.

The problem with this thread is the title is r****dedly overstated. Is Moochie bad - yes. Should he be getting minutes - no.

But is he the worst basketball player ever - obviously not, he plays professional basketball. I imagine he is better than some of the people posting in this thread.

The other problem is this thread pops up about every four days and that is why he was suggesting the thread would be locked. Beating a dead horse.

Suggesting that Mooch retire in his late twenties while he is taking the Rockets to the bank demonstrates a lack of comprehension on the subject.

I don't think you will find more than five posters on this site who actually think Mooch is competent. The real imcompetency was in the front office signing him to his contract. Unbelievable. He must have a wizard of an agent.
