The fact that most people here really thought a guy who can't shoot and dunk would really help a rockets team who loves to shoot 3s is funny.

He can dunk and hustle all he wants but when the game slows down you need spacing and a big who can shoot.

Mchale knew this, that's why he wouldn't play him, mchale actually went at morey by saying he don't have a stretch 4

Man, we need to keep developing this guy. Makes plenty of mistakes at the moment but defensive potential is HUGE with his ability to guard smaller/quicker players as well as bigger guys. You can see he's learning how to move his feet. Starting to box out regularly. Also seems to have a jumper that might become a weapon in a year or two.

Have high hopes for the guy and seems to mix in with the team really well.

I agree. He's a bit raw but he brings the hustle and energy that we desperately need right now. Those hustle plays really get our crowd into the game, and the team feeds off of that. Harden starts looking like his old self when the crowd really starts going crazy.

One part of his game that I really like is his ability/awareness to go straight up after getting a pass in the low post. This should be second nature to all big men, but he seems to be the only one that really does it consistently, other than Capela. Basically the opposite of what T Jones does.

If JB really meant it when he said he was going to start playing guys who have their priorities straight, Montrezl's minutes should increase significantly.

I really like a future front court of Capela, Harrell, and DMo. Tons of potential with all of these guys.

If rebuilding is the route we take, there are far worst places to start from than with an established superstar and a bunch of young guys with talent.

He needs to stay in the rotation, he's just as good as Jones. Just as flawed as well because he makes a lot of the same mental mistakes.

Unlike Jones, Harrell is a rookie who may in time learn to correct those mistakes. he already brings a lot of energy consistently, which is a good base to work with when it comes to playing defense.

I'm at the anybody but Jones stage. He's garbage, and the occasional solid performance doesn't make up for the mistake laden crap he plays in most games.

So true. He's a pure PF. That's what your protypical PF is supposed to do. Go up strong, rebound, defend. Also, we shouldn't sleep on his mid range shot or post game. Both are a work in progress but he's shown he can do both quite well

All in all I love Montrez's attitude. He's like the Patrick Beverley of PF's on this team. He just goes out and kicks azz, doesn't back down from anybody. This team of egos NEEDS that type of energy. We need guys hungry for minutes. Hopefully JB doesn't bench him the next 5 games like he did Thornton after playing well:(

This times a million. He gets lost on defensive rotations and boxing out but he is still a rookie and will learn through playing. He has a great motor and sometimes gets him out of place on defense as he always tries to go for the big time blocks and falls victim to pump fakes. He'll eventually learn when to go for those blocks and when to stand his ground.

His shot form isn't that bad but he'll need tweaking with his form. I don't think he'll ever need a rework of his shot form but if he can make 60-70% at the line that'll keep him in the league for a long time.

I don't wanna wait for it but a young core between Capela and Trez is exciting as hell. He'd do himself a big favor to religiously watch Draymond film as he develops. Exactly the type of player he could become over time.

not really. a draymond is actually pretty rare since he's an all around big with skills. he has the ability to adjust to numerous situations with extremely high iq. Harrell has a few good things going like energy and hussle w/ a nice touch around the basket but i dont see things like ball handling and 3s being something he goes to in his career.

That guy is an idiot. Harrell stopped because he didn't want to ruin it in. That was great sportsmanship.

I don't like how relentless he is on the offensive glass or how he pesters defensive rebounders trying to make an outlet pass. It's fun to watch but he needs to get back on defense. He creates huge holes in our transition defense.

Aside from that, I love what he brings. Just fix that one easy problem and he's an asset we can benefit from this year.

It's hard not to like Trezl because of his athleticism and hustle, which is seemingly lacking. He brings the "fun" that this team seems to lack.

That said, he has a long way to go. Can get there, but a long way to go.

It's obviously hard to judge in such limited minutes. But he's been a horrible rebounder thus far on any basis (rpg, per36, per 100 possessions). And if you wanted to compare to a TJones rookie season for example, he's pretty much way behind in all areas.. except defense.

Obviously, rebounds aren't the only thing to focus on, and stats on a guy 200+ minutes into his rookie year can be very misleading. But he was a pretty good rebounder in college and this was one area I thought he'd be able to come in and do above average in, even on a limited basis... given his athleticism and hustle. And so far, he's really bad here. And it's the type of stat I look to for a guy like him - getting small minutes in a rookie year but excelling on a per 100 possession basis and doing the little things and slowly improving to where you could see him having a meaningful role in the future.

Again, I like Harrell, but think its as much a function of how crappy our PFs have been as anything.

I loved that moment in the final seconds last night, when every fiber of his MonstaTrezz musculoskeleton was going to dunk that ball, only to be thwarted by sportsmanship. Of course he traveled!

I was ok with that. But I would have enjoyed it also if he monster slammed it, then ran up to the Jazz coach and shoved him to the ground... That would have proven a point.

Agree 100%. We need to play with quite a bit more anger.

He was going to dunk then realized that the sportsman like thing to do was to hold the ball as the game was over.
