If he opts in, looks like Cuban will want to move him. Considering he's only making 8.5 million next season, I think he is actually a bargain considering his talent level offensively. You could make the case that he was the Mavs best offensive weapon over the past 2 seasons. http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story...ore-monta-ellis-trade-exercises-player-option
I don't think Monta can return to the Mavs. They will certainly trade him if he opts in, which I doubt very much. "Older" guys like him gain nothing waiting for next year because (1) he definitely isn't a max player and (2) teams wanting to sign him this summer will do so knowing the cap explodes next year. But maybe in Monta's mind he sees himself as a $20 million a year guy. I don't know if delusion runs in his family.
He's opting out and will become a FA [Kyler] Monta Ellis is opting out of the final year in his contract with the Dallas Mavericks that was worth $8.72 million (twitter.com)
I hope the mavs strike out bad this offseason. Isn't parsons suppose to be their next star and carry them? I mean he is making 15 mill and all.
He won't be back in Dallas. They'll have a new backcourt.

If Monta Ellis opts out, which seems certain now, Mavericks will have upwards of $30-million to spend in free agency, plus the $2.8 excption
— Eddie Sefko (@ESefko) June 24, 2015

That should allow them to pursue LaMarcus Aldridge and also have room to re-sign Tyson Chandler. Uh, yeah. But then who do they have in the backcourt? Rondo and Ellis would be gone. And BTW, does Aldridge joining the team push Dirk to the bench?
they will pick up LIN for 3 years @ 15 mil. Then Lin and Parsons can pick up their bromance. Or they will wind up with some second tier like Jarrett Jack..something like that.
why would lamarcus go to a team with no point guard, no shooting guard, a 33yr old center, a 37yr old PF, and a SF worse than batum
No idea. I've said all along that Dallas makes no sense aside from being in Texas. They'd have to spend so much money to get him that they'd have very little left to surround him with. And the 2 stars he'd be paired up with are a 37 year-old PF on his last legs and a 26 year-old SF who just had a knee operation that may or may not have been microfracture.
It's Eddie Sefko. That traitor hasn't been relevant since his time here in Houston writing for the Chronic and his appearances on channel 20 during Rockets games.
