I don't think Law and Curry can get it done. I feel the plan is to start Curry as the 1 even though he isn't a natural PG. I would assume that they would look for another 2 guard if Ellis is traded, however trading a big 2 for a small 2 is always difficult.

I have no idea what Nellie wants to do, or for that matter what the rest of the organization wants either.

Eh, he's too young to be considered a cancer. Plus, he hasn't exactly had the best role models. Put him around Shane, Luis, Yao and company and I bet he would get better fast.

They couldn't cover the SG and SF slots with Jackson, Maggette, Azubuike, and Morrow?

I admit,I didn't take that into consideration since I was only thinking of Ellis and Curry/Law in the backcourt. Yes,they can certainly cover for it.

What surprises me is that Monta had been known to be a pretty level headed player prior to all these happenings last year. He should try to get back on track, and put his mind on defense as well. He should be able to handle the smaller 1's.

That's an interesting point, and it happens a lot in pro sports.

How is that when he makes 9m per for about 5 more yrs and he's 21 or so? Monte is a really, really good player that would be really good playing with a big guard. He made a huge mistake lying about the moped accident, but make no mistake, he is a all star calibe playe in the right situation. He's explosive and can shoot lights out. He can run the point tony parker like if given the chance, but playing him with curry is just silly.

+1. Way too young to give up on him yet.

Monta Ellis can't run the point like TP. He just doesn't have the head for it. But the guy is one of the most dynamic players in the NBA. He needs to be put on a team with strong leadership so he can focus on just playing and leaving it all out on the floor. That ain't happening at Golden State.

The perfect situation this season for Monta Ellis would be on the Mavs playing next to Kidd & Dirk and being coached by Rick Carlisle. As much as I despise the Mavs, Ellis on that team would make me watch them as often as I could.

the boy is correct that would be the worst defensive team in the league with those 2 but he should have found a better way to say it.

Any less so than Brooks? It's not like Adelman's offense revolves around a playmaking PG. Sure, he's not the perfect fit. But it's not as if other NBA teams are rushing to trade their elite PGs.

I doubt Morey makes the deal simply due to Ellis' contract. But I think he'd be a positive addition to this team.

you have to remember than morey continues to build around yao. that means guards have to be able to spread the floor, which ellis can't. guards also have to be willing to give the ball to the post, which ellis isn't.

maybe monta can be had on a low ball offer, but we don't need him. i would look into a 3 team deal. he definitely has value around the league... if we can pry him from the warriors and move him for something we need...

    maybe something like this: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhsssec

Tmac ---> warriors for Ellis and Maggetty (tons of cap relief for warriors)
Ellis ---> sixers for Iguodala (makes a lot of sense for both teams)

Rockets can either keep Maggetty (to DD's delight) or move him for kapono. giving away the talent but acquiring an ending contract and a dead eye shooter. either way its a win win.

Brooks and Lowry can't play together. Rafer Alston and Luther Head can't play together. They just can't. You mean to tell me they did at times? Rick Adelman must be an idiot. Or maybe Phil Jackson for playing Farmar and Fisher together at times. Possibly even Mike Brown who rolled out Moe Williams and Daniel Gibson together.

There will be times when they can and can't, but it isn't like other teams don't do similar things. The Warriors are going to suck on defense regardless of what they do. They are going to win with mismatches on the offensive side of the floor.

Its 20 years ago, but thats TALLER than Isiah Thomas/Joe Dumars who won championships. Though Dumars was strong regardless of size, Isiah never backed down, and they of course had some big physical rough & tumble frontcourt players helping on team defense. Not this finesse stick figure Biedrins & Anthony Randolph business at GS now.

He's also saying I dont want to muscle against the big 2's and get bruised up, maybe let Curry do that and I'll think things over

Monta would not fit in as a Rocket. He's a scorer who can't, or doesn't, do much else. He doesn't play defense. He doesn't play team ball. And he doesn't care for the game as much as these Rockets do.

    No to Monta!

Did Monta get hurt tonight? I see only a minute or so of PT in the box score.

    I was just wondering that?

Probably Nellie's way of sending a message.

"You think you can't play with Curry? Fine - you get 1 minute, then he's on the rest of the game"
