My guess would be that it blew any dust or dirt off of the metal connectors. Maybe its the same thing with cd's (removing dust/dirt). My friend had an old ritual with NES/Atari cartridges. Tap on game 2 times. Blow into the cartridge from left to right. Tap on the game 3 times. I swear this worked 99% of the time even though it sounds silly as hell.
