Once you get your formula down it's good stuff. The combo I like is the Ginger citrus sauce and a spoon of the Cajun seasoning
so I tried Mongo on Saturday at the Pearland Town Center not bad, one thing different is that there are 2 different bowls, the silver bowl, same size as your 1 bowl at Genghis, for Veggies only, and a separate bowl for your protein, which of course is smaller the vegetable selection was a bit less, but had some more Asian vegetables than Genghis, one example is that I love how Mongos has the Chinese mushrooms in addition to your regular mushrooms. its good, but does cost a $1/$2 more than Genghis. It has its advantage since its closer to my house and the closest Genghis I go to is out in Bunker Hill I'd recommend it since its the closest Mongolian Stir Fry place in Pearland area
Cool, thanks for the review Dave. I'm gonna have to check it out one night. Or maybe hit it up for lunch cos I think it's cheaper.
Ate genghis tonight, beef, chicken, shrimp, spinach, mushroom, pineapple, a teaspoon of cajun seasoning and cup of Ginger citrus. Win!!
my bowl consisted of spinach, Chinese mushrooms, beef, dark chicken, shrimp, scallops, steak seasoning, lemon peppers, garlic salt, and combination of sauces including sweet/sour and citrus sauce.
They just open a Mongolian grill near hwy 6 around west oaks mall area where I live... I just had Genghis grill the other night and it was delicious and awesome, totally made my day... The only goals and interest I have in life now are going out to eat as many and a variety of different foods before I die.. Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S and I will get a chance to do that..
I said this before in this thread, but it can't be repeated enough: Mongolian BBQ is the greatest thing in the world.
Genghis Grill is greatness, one of the few places up here I found in Dallas that I really enjoy. It does take some practice though to get the bowls just right, took my parent for the 1st time a few years ago and they hated, they didn't pick the right stuff. Talked them into going a 2nd time and they loved it once they got the right combo of stuff, now they love it.
Almost completely unrelated- I just can't wrap my head around Pearland being all growed up proper-suburb style. It's so weird.
I guess my problem is that I don't know what to put in the bowl, especially the seasoning and the sauce. Do you have some recommendations? I can see adding the seasoning to the bowl before it's cooked but do you add the sauce before or after?
Mongolian Grille in Austin is like 50x better than Genghis Grill. (Used to go there every week.) My wife and I were severely disappointed that we had to downgrade our Mongolian BBQ experience when we moved to Houston. Genghis Grill has meager portions, inferior meat, terrible sauces (which you don't even get enough of), and no sides whatsoever (like soup, dumplings, etc.). The same can be said for Wacky Mongolian near HP's campus, too. I miss Mongolian Grille.
When I went to Mongolia, they heated bunch of rocks till it's super hot. Then they dumped the chopped up meat and the rocks into a bucket, sealed it and kicked it around for a while till the meat is cooked. I was pretty small at the time, but i remember it wasn't very tasty
Those are supposed to go hand in hand my friend. ha, all my friends from Pearland say the same thing don't know if anybody else notices, but they are opening a lot more Mongolian places, I saw a new one near the Steak N' Shake in Katy, forgot the same of it, but had a Genghis name to it also, need to try it out
