I know college doesn't translate to pro ball but correct me if I'm wrong, VY and RB had excellent careers, Mario had a few excellent games. To gamble your future on a guy who may have a bigger upside and also has a bigger downside was a mistake. We've beaten to a pulp why the other guys would be better so I will leave it at that.
Calling it a fixed game is a joke. As Berman said in the pregame the atmosphere was so incredible he would have taken the Saints over the '78 Steelers. That was a joke. I'm not surprised the Falcons got whooped on pure adrenaline.
like the texans over the cowboys 19-10...the fans literally willed that team to a win that night. that's what i saw last night...what little i watched between innings of the 'stros game.
I agree, once the Alex Gibbs/Broncos philosophy is grafted on to some roughneck type wildcatters from the hardscrabble fields of West Texas - well, let me just say that Mr. Lundy & Mr. Dayne better be in good condition cause they're going to have a lot of empty space in front of them. I think I've been banned from that forum, it doesn't show up for me any more. I think it was from the time I posted Journey p*rn.
I know you're mainly joking here, but I'll play along, since other people have decided that your post actually has merit. Wandy Rodriguez won 10 games for the Astros last year with a 5.53 ERA. Brad Penny only won 7 games (with a 3.90 ERA). Does Wandy's 10 wins and 3 game win differential make him a better pitcher than Penny? HELLS no. That thinking is ridiculously simplistic. Realizing this, you would probably add some more metrics in your evaluation besides just W's and L's, right? RIGHT? (God, I hope so.) But really, the best response to your post is this:
best part of the game was Theisman's faux paux (spelled right?) on the flag that was thrown "inadvertently" on a PI call. JT "He must have seen something to make him take it out of his pants" TK"Ahh I am not going to touch that one at all" JT "Oh OH you know what I meant the flag, the flag"
I heard that, that was classic. I also liked when Cornheiser asked Spike Lee what he thought of the rebuilding effort in NOLA. The look on Spikes face was classic. There was an akward pause and then Spike said something like "Nice try, but you're not gonna get me to go Kanye West!"
Last night's game was pure propaganda, it could have been a great football game had they not tried to make it into the heartfelt story of the year. It was classic watching the camera play "where's Waldo" with the African Americans in the crowd. It could have been a story of triumph and rebuilding but to me it just felt altogether dirty, trite and forced in it's nature. But hey it WAS an ESPN production so I pretty much got exactly what I expected.
i don't think it was propaganda to the people who were there. looking at the ESPN poll, it looks like the people of LA think this was a pretty powerful symbol for them.
Haven't seen the poll, I'm sure the game was an awesome experience for anyone from the area and especially for those in attendance but I couldn't stomach what to me were obvious leftist overtones that the broadcast had. I don't care for the right wing spin either; the left and right keep the American people at odds so they can remain in power.
i watched U2...i watched kickoff....i saw bits and pieces between innings. what was the right wing spin?
Just saying I don't care for it in either case not that there was any last night. They should have showed how the city is recovering, only once did they point out how Bourbon street was just as it was before Katrina, most of the broadcast was focused on how most of NOLA was still in devastation, maybe if some of the 186 million had gone to rebuilding the city instead of a stupid football stadium maybe the city would be further along in it's rebuilding. It's like having your roof ripped off your house, slapping a fresh coat of paint on the outside and having your friends and family over for BBQ.
I agree with Summer Song Giver. It looked to me like broadcast was scripted by the editors of Rolling Stone Magazine and the DNC.
Let's wait and see how the Saints are doing when their lease runs out in 2010. The Saints franchise is worth over $1 billion if it is located in Los Angeles. It isn't probably worth $400 million located in New Orleans.
its amazing that the saints have become the new hated franchise in houston because of reggie bush. who cares, worry about your own team.
