For comparison, Ron Dayne behind the worst offensive line in football: 14 carries, 58 yards, 0 TD Wow, let's prepare Reggie's spot in Canton.
Wow!!!! 72 total yards.... most impressive. Mario may not have a sack but Reggie has no TD's. Speaking of which, have any of the "can't miss prospects" contributed? Mario blows, Reggie blows, VY is on the bench, Lienart is starting this week, Brick house sees servicible (according to Samfisher), haven't seen Vernon Davie on ESPN, what about Huff and Hawk. I'm to lazy but maybe someone can't provide some stats and comments on the top ten picks for comparison purposes. I have a feeling no one is living up to thier draft hype as of yet.
Absolutely. If only we had ditched the leading passer (by rating) in the NFL for VY and his sub-60 rating and mid-40s completion percentage, then we'd be 3-0!!!
Damn straight! Screw hindsight. I was in the "trade down for D'Brick" camp all year. Can I be GM now? BTW, for those of you (childish and petty) posters who think I'm some sort of "Bush hater", and not the sane, fair, and rational person I actually am, I thought there were times tonight where Bush looked phenomenal. Yes, not the greatest game for Reggie, but I did see glimpses of incredible potential. Now, will Bush meet the high expectations placed on him? Magic 8-Ball says "Unknown". I'll reserve judgment until the end of the season, just like I will for Mario. It's only fair, after all. ... And really, can we put an end to the Great Bush-Mario war, please? Or at least revisit it in the offseason? You don't have to prop up your guy by putting down the other one. Just admit that both players will probably end up being good, and go about your business. (Or am I just an idealist?)
Come on. Nobody thought VY was going to do anything in his first year. Reggie looks more Eric Metcalf then Barry Sanders. Mario looks like he'll be out of the league in 3 years.
I agree on VY. I'm just having a little fun at the expense of the Carr-bashers. It's been fairly obvious for some time that he wasn't and isn't the problem.
I know... I was laughing with you, not at you. I was torn on VY. I loved him and still love him as a player, but I didn't want to give up on David Carr. My position was take him only if you can find excellent trade value for Carr. I think he'll eventually be a fabulous pro, but Carr has the potential to be a really good one in his own right, and didn't deserve the blame and treatment he got from a lot of Texan "fans."
I think it just shows that a lot of people may have been overhyping these players. Everyone thinks that these players can immediately turn an entire franchise around, but we need to remember that they are still rookies on the some of the worst teams last season. Mario: The guy has had zero impact on the worst defense in the league. Bush: Has played decently, 0 Touchdowns for the next Gale Sayers is something many didn't expect to see, but 3-0 is all that matters. VY: The Titans are a mess in every way. Don't see any QB doing anything with this team. D'Brick: Hard to weigh a tackle's production, but the Jets are good and Pennington has been going nuts. Hawk: Has played okay at best.
Reggie Bush looks good, he can do some very positive things as an all-purpose player. That said it is safe to say Reggie didn't have a monday night debut like Earl or Bo--for those saying he was like the best RB prospect, since ever. On the game, boy did the Saints play their hearts out and Atl looked like they didn't want to be there. Football is a very emotional game, I am still not convinced the Saints are better than 500 once the emotion wanes.
We're three games into the season and you guys are already judging rookies. Damn, give them a chance to show you what they can do. You know, sometimes it doesn't happen the first season, sometimes it does but damn just give them sometime. I'm glad I didn't feel this way about McNabb when he came into the league. He proved all those that booed his selection at the draft very, very wrong.
I was not for drafting Reggie Bush. You guys know that. But at least you can see SOMETHING with Reggie. Not HOF stuff yet...but SOMETHING. We're criticizing him for averaging 4.1 yards/carry yesterday. You can see something and think, "wow...this guy is just gonna get better." I'd KILL to have that now on the Texans.
yeah..we really don't need to draft anyone, at all. we're gonna go down to the docks and pull some strong young men off their jobs and suit 'em up next year.
Reggie Bush, 13 carries for 53 yards. Ron Dayne, 14 carries for 58 yards. We'd be 0-3 and on pace to shatter the record for most yards allowed if Reggie Bush was a Texan.
