Reggie totally screwing with Atlanta out there - so much focus is on him the other players can practically walk into the end zone. Btw -- Did Mario get a tackle last game?
I like how they made sure to say George H Bush so they crowd would know it wasn't the current president.
Reggie Bush is a nice decoy so far but I just don't see the franchise/every down back that was alleged and debated last spring. I've seen D'Brickashaw Ferguson play twice so far this year and been relatively impressed. Not flashy of course but pretty much keeps his man quiet, the jets OL hasn't given up a ton of sacks. For my $$$ he is outshining Bush/Young/Williams by a long shot so far.........too bad the Texans were set at Left Tackle last offseason and Gary Kubiak can use Denver Bronco magic pixie dust to turn free agent rejects into All Pro lineman......
Yep the Texans have huge OL problems so they pick a major project on the defensive side instead of the sure thing.
Sorry. If you want to cheer backups, cool with me. Anyway, give me Bush's stats... maybe I'll cheer for him if he's having a great night. Damn, he's making us look bad we didn't pick him...
Alrighty. I dont want to be a negative nancy here, and I dont want to rain on the Saints Parade back to New Orleans. But this is a little much. First, the Texans pass on Reggie Bush and he falls into the Saints laps. Kinda wierd considering Aaron Brooks was leaving and they needed a QB, had three of the best QBs in recent memory at their disposal. But no, they go with Drew Brees from San Diego. Kinda wierd considering the Texans would most certain take Reggie Bush. They dont and *gasp* the Saints get him! It revitalizes the city and all of the sudden the Saints have New Orleans buzzing. Now they are showing Bush as this savior, a symbol of the revitalization of the city. Interesting. Now the season starts and the Saints start it 2-0, heading into a battle with one of the NFC's best, the Falcons. From the beginning, I thought stuff was a little fishy. Vick fumbles and the Saints had an opportunity to run it in for a touchdown. They slip up and it rolls out of bounds. Lucky break? The next play, they block a punt and return it for a touchdown. They block a field goal later. And just now Carney makes a 51 yard field goal. I dont want to be negative or anything, maybe Im looking too far into it, but this whole thing seems almost *too* perfect for the Saints. Seems a little fabricated to me. Thoughts?
How could have Marques Colston fell the end of the 7th round? Dude looks like Andre Johnson. He is a beast of a specimen. BTW, the Texans selected WR David Anderson from Colorado State before the Saints took Colston.
Yawn... I tuned in to watch the two greatest speciemens to enter the NFL in the last 50 years (Bush and Vick)... and I'm being treated to helter-skelter blocked punts, and defenses throwing their weight around. (as well as watching Brees).
I really can't believe they're going to go through this entire broadcast without even so much as mentioning the Houston communities involvment in the Katrina recovery.
LOL, so that's how it's going to be. I don't remember anyone on this board clamoring for the Texans to take D'Brick all summer long. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
LOL, so that's how it's going to be, ID2k is going to be Texans superfancop all season long no actually foresight is better: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=2301105&highlight=Ferguson#post2301105 Though I will say that I didn't think Williams was that bad and preferred him to Bush (though maybe not with the 1st pick- I suggested they trade down for a lineman: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=2254800&highlight=Ferguson#post2254800 So far I guess I should not have trusted the evaluations of him. Here's VecseySux and Nero clamoring for Ferguson on draft eve: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=2301193&highlight=Ferguson#post2301193 and there are others. Drafting Ferguson is not a longshot that looks like 20/20 in hindsight, he was obviously the best tackle available going in, and is showing why. The Texans had a crying need there and would have been well served obtaining him some way, though I wonder if the "Denver Bronco way" prevented this from happening in some way.
That's the way it's worked for months now. If he has a bad game, it's someone or something else's fault (the turf). Either that, or it somehow doesn't matter because he can be a dime a dozen back who can catch a ball out of the backfield. If he has a mediocre game (tonight), he's really spectacular because he's opening up the rest of the offense by attention paid to him (it couldn't have anything to do with attention paid to Deuce McAllister, could it?). If he has a good game (week 1), he's instantly the greatest back to ever play the game. Media spin is a powerful tool, and when you have it on your side, all sorts of manipulations are possible. That said, the Saints defense and special teams are much better than I expected. Props to them, they've played an excellent game.
