Ha, last week Rex Grossman was getting some talk of MVP. No way the Bears advance in the playoffs with that bum QBing.
Gotta love it...1 good game shows that a QB is the real deal and 1 bad game shows that he isn't going anywhere. Grossman had a terrible day, but lets not forget that he was spectacular the first 5 weeks (and his team is still 6-0). His decision making was horrible but the Cards defense was a lot better than anyone expected, he was constantly getting pressured.
Matt Leinart >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vince Young Leinart has gotten hype, but he certainly deserves it. In his two starts he's averaging 242.5 yards per game with an overall 4td/2int ratio. What has Vince done to deserve any media praise?- 56.5 QB rating, 102 passing yards per game, 3td/4int ratio, and a win over the Redskins isn't exactly anything to hang your hat onto. Now yes it is still early in both of their careers, but I feel Vince will be a bust because his skills won't translate well in the NFL. You didn't hear the bust talk with Leinart because he's the better pro style qb, and his transition will be much easier. The Titans will come to regret the day they set back their franchise a number of years by selecting Vince Young over Matt Leinart.
anyone else see this stat... Edgerin James ran the ball 36 times for 56 yards. Even the Texans wouldn't run the ball that many times before figuring out that the run game should be avoided like the plague at that point in the game.
I hope I'm not falling into your trap or anything but you're a moron. The fact is that VY is 1-1 as a starter and Leinart is 0-2. Sure the Redskins aren't exactly SuperBowl bound, but they had no problem running all over the Texans. The Cards have blown 2 sizable leads the last 2 games, not saying its Leinart's fault, but they lost. It's amazing that the Cards are this bad with the talent they have, both Boldin and Fitzgerald are ten times better than any receiver the Titans have.
yeah im suring they are regreting that the beat Washington on the road as opposed to blowing a 20pt lead at home.
Vince Young can also break tackles and break off 20 yard TD runs and brush off Dwight Freeney like he was a scrub. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-_3hOpd6bbA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-_3hOpd6bbA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I'm a moron because I have the opinion that Leinart's the better player? So far Leinart's looked much better and put up better numbers. I will admit Leinart has MUCH more talent around him, but if you swap the two, I don't see Vince looking as good on the cardinals. It is still early in the season, which is why I didn't bring up their overall record- let's bring that up at the END of the season-- and Leinart's overall record should be better. That's not even fair to Vince because the titans suck so much, but if you wanna compare overall records wait till the end of the season.
Moron was probably a bit harsh. But the problem with your post is that your bashing VY more than you are praising Leinart. Sure...Leinart has looked good and put up better numbers, but like you said, he has MUCH more talent around him. I just think it's unfair to be calling a player a bust after 6 games into their rookie season. The only reason why I compared records is that at the end, that's all that matters. Leinart probably played the best game a rookie can in MNF vs. the best team in the NFL, but the story will be that they blew a 20 point lead going into the 2nd half. The Redskins are bad but a win is a win and VY was a big part of it. I do disagree about VY not looking good with the Cardinals. Both Fitzgerald and Boldin are Top 10 receivers IMO and I think almost any QB could do well with those 2 weapons. Also...I've seen at least 5-6 BIG plays where the Titans receivers couldn't catch a very well thrown ball. But oh well...I think both will be very good QBs in the NFL.
Not to nitpick, but the Titans are actually 1-2 with VY as a starter. Leinart in 2 starts has also thrown for more yards and touchdowns than VY in 3. No agenda here -- I'm actually a big VY fan (though I hate that he's with the old Oilers). I hope he pans out big time -- and I think he will. VY is an outstanding leader and brings other skills to the table that Leinart does not... but as far as a passer, you have to give that edge to Leinart by a lot right now.
Well, Fitzgerald wasn't even playing tonight. Leinart looked like a pro quarterback out there. Win or Loss you can see it, you could see that he has pocket presence and stays calm, he looks like an NFL ready quarterback and doesn't lock in on one receiver. Theismann doesn't usually give QBs too much credit, but he was impressed by Leinart tonight, said he doesn't even look like a rookie. I'd take Leinart over VY in a heartbeart right now, but that doesn't mean they both won't be good NFL QBs. It is too early to tell.
this debate is drawing away from the most important aspect of tonight's game.... Denny Greens post game press conference. If anyone has it please post. I can't get enough of it. "The Bears are who we thought they were." "You wanna crown their ass, gohead an crown them"
