It's tough enough to find unconditional acceptance in our own lives.
Naturally it's almost impossible for every fan out there to unconditionally accept Yao especially when most of them have no real personal connection to him.

and a lot of fans here feel loyalty and passion towards the franchise, not necessarily the players..their frustration with Yao mainly stems from the desire to see their beloved Houston Rockets succeed and seeing those desires and dreams crushed for what seems like every season now...it has nothing to do with Yao as a player or person...

Rather than trading Yao, I think finding a good Center backup is way more important! We can give Yao some more rest in games.

So mainly we can say its the organization fault too. U know that Yao can't play more than 36mins EVERY game. Let alone 40mins. Mutombo is good, but he won't score as much as Yao. more than that there will be some risk towards the end of the season.

We can have Lowry and Brooks at PG. I feel we need a duo too at the center!

get real people, what is funny is that the question is never should the rockets resign Yao for the max contract, it's always will Yao willing to stay with the rockets if he sees no chance to win a championship.

maybe don't resign him, let yao go to the cavs, or paly with d-wade (i don't he can stand playing with kobe though after this serias). then everybody will be happy

    This thread is dumb.
Yeh hes dedicated and toughed it out game 1.
Yeh hes great on offense when not being fronted.
Hes a hell of a center....
BUT dude breaks a bone every year!!!
I guarantee he will be injured again next season...then what?
What would give you any reason to believe different?

Yeh im with you lets keep a player who will be injured every season.

    Give me a break!

Yes, Yao was a warrior in game 1. We love him for it. But that doesn't mean it's not time to cut our losses and get rid if he is going to be hurt every single year.

Let me go out on the court for game 4 please. I will play hurt and I will give 1 million percent to the cause. You will never see anyone try harder. It will be inspirational in fact. Does that mean it would be wrong for people to say I shouldnt play again when I don't contribute a single positive thing to the team?

We are about to play our biggest game of the year (every game of the playoffs is bigger than the last imo and therefore biggest of the year) and once again we are without Yao for that game. What about next year? Yao can be a warrior and an inspiration and a talent and try hard AGAIN but if he gets injured again it's no good to us whatsoever.

Hope that helps explain. Yao IS a warrior, he DOES have heart, but it also IS a bad idea to build our team around him.

For the first time ever I am also thinking, that a trade might be the way we have to go... I mean I love Yao, love his attitude and still think he is the best center in the NBA. But it gets clear, that his body can`t take the punishment of a full season. And for a team that wants to win a championship in the next years, we need a guy that is healthy for an entire year.

The alternative would be, to let him sit out every 3d game or so, or limit his numbers to under 30 mpg.

Either way, with him getting older he will only get more injury prone, and no matter how nice a guy he is, and how good a player he is, we can`t give a guy max money that can`t give us a full season...

OP doesn't get it. This is same over-reacting board year after year. Exact same extreme after game 1 and game 3, just in different directions. You shouldn't be surprised that any scrub after a good game will be idolized as upcoming franchise player, and any franchise player will be bashed to no end, well, they ended up being traded anyways. Everyone acts as if it's their money.

If you want to have your points crossed, there are 2 big premises you have to disclaim at first.

    1. You are the fan of the team - meaning, you can throw anyone and everyone under the bus at any time. You know that team thing, is so noble and it can exist without any player on it. That's called occupy moral high ground.

    2. You are an old fan, you became a fan BEFORE any non-championship stars joined - meaning, you are not a bandwagon fan of any specific player. Could you be a bandwagon fan of any of those championship stars? Possible, but hey, there is no tracking history, and people don't laugh at you if you ride the nuts of winners.

Remember, claim those 2 things first, then start to talk about anything you want to.

In my opinion, probably to the distaste to some of the so-called loyal rockets fans. If Yao resigns with the Rockets, he would be resigned for the max, an agreement between the one who's paying and the one who's receiving. If he signs for less, it would probably be with some other team. Reasoning behind that is, as loyal as Yao is, he wouldn't want to leave, but if Les considers trading him or offering him less (reasonable thought, nobody is untradable, just business decision), I don't expect Yao to be very happy (reasonable too, since he isn't a saint or totally unselfish communist).

As a Rockets fan and fan of Yao Ming, I want to see Rockets win a championship again, ideally with a healthy Yao. However, if they part their ways, for any reason, I still want both to win championships and be happy.

people who is not playing on the court alway has too many things to blame and complain.Yes YAO is not talented and his is likely to be injure-prone due to his ultra-big shape and he might not become one of the ledends of Rockets history for bringing back another world champion, but he has devoted all his ability for this team and left memorable moments .And i cant imagine what he would feel after reading those threads rattling on trading him . i felt shamed for those guys.

still proud of YAO and rockets
