Yes, racing out to politicize a your woman's murder to promote your pet issue (ban immigrants, build wall) and divert attention from your legal issues IS despicable. Especially when the young woman's family asked that it not be politicized. And especially since the suspect's legal status was not clear. And despite the stats that show immigrants commit fewer crimes that the larger community they live in. But hey, it will get more angry trump supporters to shout "build the wall" at the next trump rally, so its all good.

But next school shooting, I completely expect trump supporters to be chiming in with the "thoughts and prayers" crowd saying its too soon for talk about gun legislation and accusing people of exploiting a tragedy.

I mentioned how his lawyers said he isn't illegal, but it appears he used a false name.

I forgot to include the link but from the NY Daily News article:

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security identified the 24-year-old suspect as undocumented and said he’d been living in the country for the last four to seven years. Rivera’s employer, Yarrabee Farms, said it was unaware he was undocumented and that he provided them with a different name at his time of hire.

In court documents submitted Wednesday, Rivera’s lawyer rejected claims that he was in the country illegally but the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services responded with a statement that there is “no record” to suggest otherwise.”

This could go back and forth still but that's the latest.

 

LOL. I'm sorry that your experience with crime is not representative of the overall truth regarding crime and immigration both legal and illegal. Their culture is what helped to make our culture what it is today. I hope that we can learn and continue to improve our culture.

I'm under the assumption that him being here illegally is correct. His lawyer doesn't carry any weight for me because he seemed to be relying on the company saying he passed through E-Verify. It doesn't really matter to me either way, other than I care about how he passed the E-Verify and documentation requirements.

Him being illegal is probably preferable to him being legal from a political standpoint as I'd rather they attack illegal immigrants than legal ones. We'll end up adding a Hispanic ban to the Muslim ban.
