Almost half of illegal immigrants come by air and simply over stay their visas. Illegal entry by sea is also significant.

Even for land access, the ratio of illegal land crossing to legal land crossing and overstaying the visa is estimatred to be about 1:2 i.e. two thirds of people coming over from Mexico, come in legally and simply overstay.

A wall, that will likely cost more than $20 billion, will only hamper illegal land crossing from Mexico, and will not do anything to reduce the major sources of illegal immigrants. It is simply idiotic to spend so much resources on such a wasteful endeavor.

If you want to reduce illegal immigration, make it more difficult for illegals to integrate into the system

 

As a Swedish resident and husband to a Swedish citizen for the past 14 years, I have never witnessed all of these rapes that everyone keeps talking about. This is the fake news that actually exists. If residents of the US understood how clean, healthy, educated, and safe Sweden is, there would be an uprising of proportions not seen since the French revolution. But you keep ****ing that chicken and I'll take my chances with the foreigners.

It's similar to when I had a friend who went to Georgetown and she came back to Houston acting scared of crime. She explained the high crime in DC was concentrated and easily avoidable.

 

If residents of Sweden knew how obese, uneducated, and xenophobic Trump supporters are, they would understand why Fox News propaganda works so well on them.

 

Sweden averages over 6000 reported rape cases every year but less than 200 convictions (which is less than 3%).

Trying to use the statistics of less than 100 convicts per year over 5yrs to describe a population of almost 2 million is just wrong.

The high percentage of immigrants in conviction is more likely due to them being disadvantaged in the legal system from factors like poor knowledge/lack of information to financial resources.

As far back as 1996, even with a lower number of immigrants, Sweden has had extremely high number of rapes reported and the increase of immigrants has not changed the per capita statistics as implied.

The idea that Sweden is the rape capital of Europe is false. Read the link I posted earlier. It explains how folks like @Cohete Rojo and others are misusing statistics that include all sexual complaints including lesser offenses like groping but lump them altogether with rapes. The link explains more and has been presented to @Cohete Rojo before. For whatever reason, he keeps repeating the falsehood.

 

From murder by an assumed illegal immigrant to rape by immigrants in another country (n/m the misrepresentation). Pretty simple. See a murder by an illegal immigrant --> go go go anti-others/immigrants. Politics has no shame.

 

I don’t know if it is or isn’t the rape capital of WE. What I do know is that a lot of people there do not feel as safe as they did before. Sweden is one of the better places in the world to live. I go fairly often because of my wife’s family living there. It is nice but it isn’t some sort of utopia. There is crime, there is a fairly high sexual assault rate and there are serious issues between Swedes and the immigrants. I hear about it weekly and have noticed a difference while visiting.

Does that mean that Sweden should cut off immigration? No, that is a losing long term proposition. However whenever you bring in immigrants to a new nation there are short term problems. Ask the Irish how they feel about all the Poles moving into their country.

I agree Sweden or any place else isn't a Utopia. They all have problems. However, that doesn't make it okay for folks to spread things that are false the place. It isn't fair and it should be challenged when people trot that crap out to try and lash out immigrants.

I'm not even saying that there aren't problems with immigration. I just think when debating those problems we should only talk about stuff that is actually real.

Nice try paid bot. I have colleagues there who paint a vastly different and far more accurate picture. It is specifically an issue with muslim and north africans. But what do they know, they haven't witnessed a rape happen in the flesh.

 

Nobody is saying that rape doesn't exist. I think there is little doubt it has increased but it hasn't risen above when the immigration allowed in more Muslim immigrants.

We can address problems with immigration and legitimate increases in crime. But we shouldn't pretend that a bunch of immigrants are coming in and making Sweden the rape capital of Europe.
