Not too worried...in the rare offchance I get popcorn, its usually the free small you get from redeeming a moviewatcher reward.

And out of that small popcorn, the wife and I eat probably a quarter to a half between the two of us.

If I'm not mistaken, you can openly bring in whatever at AMC theaters.

Btw, I'm never eating popcorn again.

Well there's always the butter and salt they literally dump into it. And then people pump more butter into it afterwards sometimes. Why even bother with the popcorn? Just eat a stick of butter flavored with some salt.

I never go to the movies, but my typical Saturday morning breakfast for Game Day consists of-

    5 eggs scrambled
10-12 pieces of THICK CUT bacon, bought from the meat market
    hash browns
    Chocolate milk

I pwn movie theaters and their puny calories.

Yeah, never inhale when you open the bag of microwaved popcorn. They linked "Popcorn Workers Lung" to a case in someone who did not work in a microwave popcorn facotry, though he did eat microwave popcorn on a pretty much daily basis.

Washington Post: "Flavoring Suspected in Illness" [rquoter]
Calif. Considers Banning Chemical Used in Microwave Popcorn

SOUTH GATE, Calif. -- She was once in constant motion; her co-workers compared her to a roadrunner because of the way she darted around the workplace. But now Irma Ortiz sits at the edge of her couch, too winded to sweep her patio or walk her son to school without resting. She is slowly suffocating.

Ortiz, 44, is among a group of California food-flavoring workers recently diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans, a rare and life-threatening form of fixed obstructive lung disease. Also known as popcorn workers lung, because it has turned up in workers at microwave-popcorn factories, the disease destroys the lungs. A transplant is the only cure.

Since 2001, academic studies have shown links between the disease and a chemical used in artificial butter flavor called diacetyl. Flavoring manufacturers have paid out more than $100 million as a result of lawsuits by people sick with popcorn workers lung over the past five years. One death from the disease has been confirmed.

But no federal laws regulate the chemical's use...[/rquoter]

Actually, my memory was of reading about this a few years ago. Possibly in the process of being solved, if further googling is correct.

EHS Today: House Passes Diacetyl Bill [rquoter]House Passes Diacetyl Bill

Sep 27, 2007 12:00 AM, By Katherine Torres

By a vote of 260 to 154, the U.S. House of Representatives on Sept. 26 approved legislation that would force OSHA to develop interim standards limiting worker exposure to the artificial flavoring diacetyl. Exposure to diacetyl has been linked to a debilitating, irreversible lung disease found among workers in food processing plants and microwave popcorn factories...[/rquoter]
Not sure if that was ever signed into law. More importantly, from December of 2007:

Boston Globe: "Popcorn firms removing flavoring chemical" [rquoter]OMAHA - The nation's four biggest makers of microwave popcorn have removed a flavoring chemical linked to a lung ailment in popcorn plant workers from nearly all their products....

In August, the Weaver Popcorn Co. of Indianapolis said it had removed the butter flavor diacetyl from all its microwave popcorn varieties.

ConAgra Foods Inc. of Omaha; General Mills Inc. of Golden Valley, Minn.; and the American Pop Corn Co. of Sioux City, Iowa, all promised in September to change their microwave popcorn recipes. Those three companies sell Orville Redenbacher, Act II, Pop Secret, and Jolly Time microwave popcorn...[/rquoter]

You take out the coke and butter and you get about 400 calories.

 My boyfriend and I will usually go to dinner before the movie, then when we get there he always gets a large popcorn, pours more butter on and then devours the whole thing. I think he would just laugh if I told him how many calories he was consuming. This is the same person that ate 8 Reese's cups after a meal of chicken alfredo. Ughhh.

That's the worst part. You can't even tell that he eats like his stomach is a bottomless pit. So he keeps on eating all this crap and clogging his arteries cause he doesn't gain a pound.

Funny you should post that, because I'm pretty sure it was her seeing that episode that made her become a veg-head.

You're not really saving lives if you're gonna die anyways. Just delaying the inevitable ;)

Once, when I was going to the cinema in a group of five, we managed to sneak in a McDonald meals each (but judging by the calories, I guess we might as well have taken the cinema food).
