I hope he isn't traded. As your 4th or 5th big man, you can't get any better than Chuck Hayes.

Chuck is finally getting some love. It only took 4 slots down the rotation in order for him to finally be accepted on this roster by Clutchfans.

    Now, what about Luther?

I think it will be awesome to put Hayes, Artest, and Battier together for 5-7 minute spurts, just to mess with the other team's rhythm.

Can't you see it, some team like Boston is killing us one night, up by 20 at the half, and we start the third quarter with those three together?

I think that is a great idea and option that we have, although a luxury. So if we don't trade Hayes in a package, I expect that to be one of our sure stoppers.

That being said, I agree with almost all of the posters in this thread saying great things about Hayes. Unfortunately, that's what makes him one of our tradeable and expendable assets to upgrade where we need to at PG and/or C. Hayes is a security luxury for us, but not necessary with all the upgrades that we have due to his weaknesses. But he would be great for a team not as deep as us, but has a nice piece that would help our team overall.

With dorsey, don't need hayes this season even if we didn't have artest. Hell, even last season he didn't play much when landry was healthy.

Right, thats the mystery in people asking for Hayes and Battier to be traded, who are we gonna get who is a real upgrade and can help the the team more then they do? Please no one say Mo Williams either.

You forgot Battier. With our history of injuries, Hayes is good insurance.

Sure...we can say that about most players on the Rockets. We know that if the right trade comes by Morey would pull the trigger. But I have a gut feeling that Hayes will be here because of his cheap contract. Also, include the fact that Artest (up to now) is a one-year rental. Given that there is a good chance he will stay.

The addition of Artest could end up being a great thing for Chuck Hayes. The knock on Chuck has always been his lack of offense. Adding a 20ppg scorer just changed the dynamic of the team in his favor. Now, Chuck can stay on the floor and guard Boozer, Okur and everyone else. Yes, I'm thinking of Utah because say what you will but Chuck shuts down Boozer and Okur but his lack of offense is especially glaring against Utah because they are so good at keeping Tmac and Yao (when he plays) in check. Add Ron and now Hayes can man the 4 or 5 and effectively shut down his man and not have to worry about scoring buckets on the other end because the Rockets have legit scorers at the other spots. You don't need anything offensively from Hayes when he is on the court with Tmac, Artest, Yao (or Scola or Landry or maybe Shane) and Rafer.

Chuck Hayes, for the first time in his Rocket career, can just do what he does best without being asked to do the things he cannot do.

Novak and Hayes are the same on opposite sides of the ball.

One is awesome on D, putrid on O - the other....the opposite.

If Morey can trade Chuck, he should.....

What does that mean? If we can trade him for Bonzi Wells, is it a go?

I don't care when rooks spew out crap about how we need to trade Battier/Head/Hayes/Rafer, or say things like we need to upgrade our PG position without offering a (logical) solution.

But you've been here for almost 10 years, and you should know Chuck's value to this team. After Scola, who do we have to guard Boozer? Don't tell me Landry.

We have one of the best, if not the best team in the league, and you guys continue to think other teams will to make us better.

Hayes is a bargain for his salary, and is a perfect 10th man. If any of our centers go down, Hayes is the only one that can board and defend the bangers. He is more valuable to this team than you want to believe.

Maybe you think we should have Josh Smith as our 10th man.
