Justin Fields is the exception to the Ohio St. rule. He made a garbage team exciting to watch. The Texans have a good team with crappy QB play. A good QB (J. Fields) with a good team makes noise in the league.
Justin Fields led his team to the worst record in the NFL last year. And he is a turnover machine who struggles to read defenses. Chicago is considering giving up on him already. Hard pass.
Did you miss the garbage team part? If the line cant protect you most of the time then all of your flaws will show. Every QB in the league expects to have some type of protection. Chicago had none in his 2 seasons. You all are being blinded by the hype. Fields is a two year veteran in the same league that Bryces size is being questioned. They can only hype him up so much though.
Why would we want a QB that the worst team in the league gave up on after only 2 years? If they saw potential, they'd be building around him. Instead they may be dumping him in favor of an unknown rookie. Speaks volumes.

Feels like the Colts will offer extra pick(s) to jump us. They don’t have as many holes as us. With the current rosters, Colts are better assembled and they dealt with a lot of injuries. A QB would take them a lot further than us next year.
If Colts jump us, do not under any circumstances settle for Stroud. Let some other fools trade up for him, trade down and draft defense.
Me personally, I take Young then Stroud depending on who is there at 2. Then trade back from 12 if they can a few spots. Take Bijan Robinson in the teens to pair with Pierce. Then move up from top of second to bottom first with pick from moving back and take either Meyer or Kincaid at TE. I'm not a fan of the WR crop this year projected in the first. Then I go defense the rest... possibly center if we can't sign the one from the Jets. Bijan is luxury pick but we saw what happens when Pierce misses time.

Sure they are. Best player available. There is a need at rb. Pierce hasn't lasted a full season at any level. I like the guy but we are screwed if he goes down.
Don't disagree with BPA typically especially given Bijan's receiving abilities but this is rare instance where I don't think it makes much sense for the Texans. I just don't see how these two are complimentary backs - Bijan is the total package and should be an every-down workhorse which basically makes Pierce expendable. Does Pierce become a short-yardage specialist in this situation? That is an area where Bijan also already excels. Pierce is one of few draft picks you hit hard on last few years and RB is a position with a short shelf-life. Think it would make more sense to pair Pierce with a later round pick with a very different skill-set like an Achane.
I would add a pass catching back in 4th or later but the value of having 2 dominant backs to keep each fresh is far more appealing. I think your point has merit if Pierce proved he can handle a full season. He may yet, but he's also a physical back. I start Bijan and at the half flip their roles. Use Pierce with fresh legs on a tired defense to close out games. Also gives the defense a wrinkle to account for. The alternative is what? A smallish slot receiver from usc or big tcu receiver with route tree issues? A notre dame tight end? If Julio Jones or Justin Jefferson was sitting there give me them all day. I just like adding a weapon for a rookie qb. A team that can run the ball can survive mediocre qb play, see the titans...
Is Bijan worth the 12 pick. Where do you see him drafted. I know many are skeptical of RBs that high up. But he has a lot of buzz right now
Fair points and I do tend to agree that at #12 no other playmaker stands out as an obvious candidate which wouldn't be a reach. I kind of like idea of trading back to 18ish. This is a stacked TE class and you could potentially get a top-3 TE prospect and top-5 WR prospect where I don't see a ton of separation for either. I don't dislike the idea of a Pierce-Bijan backfield but just not sure it's best use of resources or how long it lasts given short RB shelf-lives.
