I don't want Levis either, but if Caserio/Ryans/Slowik want Levis then I'm on board. If they fail Caserio will be the fall guy and will be exiting Kirby and that's what a lot of posters want. So this is a win-win.

I wouldn't swap the 2nd for the 4th overall pick for Deforest Buckner. Buckner has 2 years left on his contract and a base salary of 20.7 million in 2024. The contract is really a one year contract for a player that will be 30 next year. I'd start with swapping the 2nd and the 4th pick for a minimum of Indianapolis 1st rounder in 2024. This trade is for a QB and trades for QB's come at a premium.
Here is exactly what will happen: Nick takes Will Anderson at 2 - claims that was always the plan even if they had the 1st pick Nick prays that Stroud, Levis, or Richardson falls to 12 or at least low enough where he can trade up - again, he'll claim that he likes whichever one falls better than Bryce Assuming that neither Stroud, Levis, nor Richardson is available, Nick will take Hendon Hooker at the top of the 2nd round - he'll claim they have a 1st round grade on him So it is written, so it will be done.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...-smith-texans-buccaneers-giants-all-trade-up/ 1. Panthers: Bryce Young QB This has been a no-brainer for Carolina. The Panthers won't confirm their interest publicly in order to keep any potential draft-day drama alive, but get your YOUNG No. 9 jerseys ready in Charlotte. 2. Texans: C.J. Stroud QB The Texans need a quarterback. They don't have one, and short of a veteran trade in the next month, this is the only place they're going to get one. I understand the smoke around them, but logic dictates they have to take Stroud here. 3. Cardinals: Will Anderson Jr. 4. Colts: Will Levis QB 5. Seahawks: Anthony Richardson QB 6. Lions: Jalen Carter 7. Raiders: Christian Gonzalez 8. Falcons: Devon Witherspoon 9. Bears: Peter Skoronski OT 10. Texans: Tyree Wilson *Projected trade with Eagles* Wilson slips a little bit here due to medical questions. The Texans make the first trade of the night by going up two spots with an amenable Philly to get the pass-rusher. General manager Nick Caserio knows he has picks 33, 65 and 73 to use to get a playmaker at wide receiver. 11. Titans: Paris Johnson Jr. OT 12. Eagles: Bijan Robinson *Projected trade with Texans* 13. Jets: Broderick Jones 14. Bucs: Darnell Wright OT *Projected trade with Patriots* 15. Packers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba 16. Commanders: Joey Porter Jr. CB 17. Steelers: Deonte Banks 18. Lions: Michael Mayer 19. Patriots: Nolan Smith *Projected trade with Bucs* 20. Giants: Zay Flowers *Projected trade with Seahawks* 21. Chargers: Dalton Kincaid 22. Jaguars: Lukas Van Ness *Projected trade with Ravens* 23. Vikings: Hendon Hooker 24. Ravens: Quentin Johnston *Projected trade with Jaguars* 25. Seahawks: Calijah Kancey *Projected trade with Giants* 26. Cowboys: Bryan Bresee 27. Bills: O’Cyrus Torrence 28. Bengals: Brian Branch 29. Saints: Myles Murphy 30. Eagles: Will McDonald IV 31. Chiefs: Darnell Washington
Dream scenario for me if Young off the table... Trade #2/#33 to Seattle for: #5, #20, 2024 #2 pick Trade a 2024 #2 to SF for Lance Arizona trades out and QBs go top 4. Texans take: #5 Will Anderson #12 Jaxon Smith-Njigba To Patriots #20/#65 for #14 #14: Bijan Robinson #73: Wypler/Schmitz Then take #104 and #161 to move up to 80s for Musgrave or Laporta at TE if they fall...
Not sure how I feel about Lance, but I do like this scenario more than staying at 2 and drafting Will Levis.
I'm not high on him, but they saw something with him to fit this offense. I think a team willing to put him out there and can take some losses while he learns is better for him than the pressure to perform right away. If he fails their pick would just be better next year for his replacement.
This is why I think Texans will take a QB at #2. No-one really expects a rookie QB to be a world beater his first season while he adjusts and learns.
Trey Lance has been a bust. I know many 49er fans who'd agree and I damn sure wouldn't trade a 2024 2nd for him. Whenever you go out and sign Sam Darnold to compete for the starting job, I'm out.
I like that and I think your on to something. I think Anderson is the smokescreen and that Wilson is the actual target with the 2nd pick. I believe the Texans would even take Hooker with the 12th pick. I would not be surprised if Hooker is drafted before Stroud. With the 33rd pick I could see the Texans drafting another Edge Defensive lineman. There should be a good cluster of Edge guys to choose from at 33 (BJ Ojulari, Myles Murphy, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, and Keion White). The Texans need 2 starting Defensive Ends out of this draft.
And if Levis/Hooker workout he will keep his job for another decade. That's how important getting this right is. Cal ain't going through the DM/Watson/Stroud experience again. If he does then he will get what he deserves.
