Wouldn't be upset. I like BJ Ojulari at #33 a little better. My preferred top 3:- #2 Bryce Young #12 Lukas Van Ness #33 Jalin Hyatt
Payne and Pendergast were discussing a mock this morning where the Texans traded down to 11 to the Titans and received 2024 and 2025 firsts and a third. They the selected JSN and Skoronski at 11 and 12. I would be ok with this but wouldn’t pick an OT at 12. Three firsts next year and two the following should be ample to godfather up for Maye or Williams next year.
https://theathletic.com/4401303/2023/04/12/nfl-mock-draft-lamar-jackson-trade/ Despite Odell Beckham Jr. signing with Baltimore (and Lamar Jackson actively recruiting him), I remain unconvinced that anything can save the Ravens-Jackson partnership beyond Baltimore offering its QB the exact contract guarantees he’s seeking. So, in this mock draft, we’re looking at the first round through the following lens: What if Jackson accepts an offer from Indianapolis to be finalized after the draft — meaning the picks exchanged for Lamar’s new deal would be 2024 and 2025 first-rounders — and, anticipating that outcome, Baltimore goes shopping for a new quarterback? How might that impact Round 1? 1. Carolina Panthers (via CHI): Bryce Young, QB, Alabama 2. Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State Theoretically, Houston can’t lose. The Texans must have at least two of the top four quarterbacks graded closely enough to feel safe that they won’t miss out by staying at No. 2, or they’re confident the prospect they love isn’t the same one Carolina wants. Stroud checks all the boxes: size and stature, requisite arm strength, poise in the pocket and the athletic ability to execute a Shanahan-tree offense exactly how it’s drawn up. As with any Ohio State quarterback, Stroud will need to improve his timing to better fit the NFL game, but the talent of a franchise quarterback is there. 3. Baltimore Ravens (via ARI)*: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida | (*Baltimore trades pick Nos. 22 and 86, a future first-rounder and future third-rounder to Arizona for Nos. 3, 168 and 213.) All indications are that the Cardinals are maneuvering hard to trade down. In this scenario, the Ravens know they’ll be gaining a pair of first-rounders (one in ’24, one in ’25) as a result of Jackson finding a new home. That opens the door for something generally unprecedented in the league (and particularly rare for Baltimore): an aggressive trade up from the back half of Round 1 into the top five. The Ravens bring Richardson into as healthy a situation for his development as possible. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken has a long track record of maximizing his passers; Beckham Jr. just joined Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman and J.K. Dobbins as the supporting cast; and the Ravens have a strong enough defensive infrastructure to keep Richardson from feeling the entire weight of the franchise right out of the gate. 4. Indianapolis Colts: Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State 5. Seattle Seahawks: Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama 6. Tennessee Titans (via DET)**: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky | (**Tennessee trades Nos. 11 and 72 and a future third-rounder to Detroit for Nos. 6 and 183) 7. Las Vegas Raiders: Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon 8. Atlanta Falcons: Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech 9. Chicago Bears (via CAR): Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee 10. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO): Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia 11. Detroit Lions (via TEN): Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois 12. Houston Texans (via CLE): Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson For Texans coach DeMeco Ryans to build the defense he wants, finding dominant physical forces up front is the first priority. Murphy is a freakish athlete on the edge; he ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at his pro day while weighing just under 270 pounds. His first step is what flashes on tape most often — he tears up the edge and converts speed to power to finish his rushes. He can be a legitimate top-tier rusher if he can improve his hip bend or finds a reliable counter move, but his floor is so high that Houston would be happy no matter what. 13. New York Jets: Peter Skoronski, G/T, Northwestern 14. New England Patriots: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State 15. Green Bay Packers: Brian Branch, S, Alabama 16. Washington Commanders: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia 17. Pittsburgh Steelers: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida 18. Detroit Lions: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas 19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Lukas Van Ness, Edge, Iowa 20. Seattle Seahawks: Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia 21. Los Angeles Chargers: Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU 22. Arizona Cardinals (via BAL): Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland 23. Minnesota Vikings: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State 24. Jacksonville Jaguars: Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma 25. New York Giants: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame 26. Dallas Cowboys: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah 27. Buffalo Bills: Jordan Addison, WR, USC 28. Cincinnati Bengals: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson 29. New Orleans Saints (via DEN): Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia 30. Philadelphia Eagles: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia 31. Kansas City Chiefs: Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan
I don't know who the author is, but AZ would be losing BIG-time if they took that trade offer from BAL. 1-3 = 2200 points 1-22 = 780 pts future 1st (BAL is playoff team) = 700 pts 86 = 160 pts future 3rd = 140 pts If Houston offered 1-12 + future 1st + 73, AZ would be better off... IJS

https://theathletic.com/4413880/2023/04/17/nfl-7-rounds-mock-draft-2023/ 1. Carolina Panthers (via CHI): Bryce Young, QB, Alabama I don’t know what the Panthers are going to do, but I can tell you what other teams believe the Panthers are going to do: draft Young. If you are comfortable with his size, the Alabama passer is the easy selection at No. 1. 2. Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State As I grow more and more confident about the pick at No. 1, I feel less sure about what the Texans will do at No. 2. I’m told there isn’t a unanimous belief among the Houston coaches that available quarterback will be worthy of this pick. At this point, I’m still leaning Stroud — if not to Houston, then probably to another team that comes up for him. But my final mock next week might have Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr., Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson or a different quarterback here. 12. Houston Texans (via CLE): Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson The Texans have three picks in the top 33 and ideally want to land a passer, edge rusher and interior defensive lineman with those selections. You’ll come away from Murphy’s tape wanting more, but there is no denying his ability and traits to continue growing at a key position. 259. Houston Texans: Gervarrius Owens, S, Houston Last year’s Mr. Irrelevant (Brock Purdy) proved to be very relevant. Owens could do the same if he stays put in Houston. His anticipation and athleticism are NFL-level traits that will keep him on special teams for a long time as he looks to earn a role on defense. Houston Texans 1 (2): C.J. You have two defensive tackles listed in this draft. The Texans have Maliek Collins and Sheldon Rankins as your starters. With Kurt Hinish, Roy Lopez, and Hassan Ridgeway on the bench. Defensive Tackle is actually one of the Texans strongest positions. At RB, the Texans currently have Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary as your 1-2. I would look to draft another RB this year but later in the draft (Probably with one of the 6th rounders) since you already have premium starters at the position. Vorhees will not play this year due to injuries
If Young goes 1, I would lean on an offer of 2 and 33 for 5, 20, and a future 2. I think Seattle might do it for the right QB... This would still land us Anderson or Tyree at 5 and give us 12 and 20 for WR and maybe Bijan... That would set us up nicely for next year for the QB...

1. Panthers: Bryce Young 2. Colts: CJ Stroud PROJECTED TRADE WITH HOUSTON TEXANS Would Indianapolis trade DeForest Buckner and the No. 4 overall pick to move up two spots? I think Houston would have to listen if it's offered. Remember, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans was Buckner's defensive coordinator for three seasons in San Francisco, and "DeFo" just restructured his contract. If Buckner is not included in the trade, how about adding a second- or third-round pick instead? It's also worth noting that Stroud is represented by the same agent as Deshaun Watson; I wonder if this could play any role in the selection of the Ohio State quarterback, based on the acrimonious way Watson's time with the Texans ended. 3. Cardinals: Will Anderson 4. Texans: Tyree Wilson After trading out of No. 2, Houston passes on a QB again and continues to build up the defense. Wilson has an 86-inch wingspan and is a Texas native. Had a foot injury not prevented this gifted edge rusher from competing in the NFL Scouting Combine (or during Texas Tech's pro day), everyone would have been buzzing about him for the last month and change. 5. Seahawks: Anthony Richardson 6. Lions: Jalen Carter 7. Raiders: Peter Skoronski 8. Falcons: Nolan Smith 9. Bears: Christian Gonzalez 10. Eagles: Bijan Robinson 11. Titans: Hendon Hooker 12. Texans: Will Levis If Houston can scoop up a veteran like DeForest Buckner (in the prospective trade spelled out above) or a future pick by trading out of No. 2, snag Tyree Wilson or Will Anderson and get its QB of the future within the top 12 overall picks? That'd be a good night for GM Nick Caserio and the new coaching staff. Houston is a curious case in this draft, for sure, and after the Colts, I don't have a perfect spot for a Levis. But if you're the Texans, he's got to be a real consideration at 12 if they don't go QB at No. 2. 13. Jets: Broderick Jones 14. Patriots: Devon Witherspoon 15. Packers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba 16. The Texans trading down to settle for Will Levis is such a Texans move that it will happen. I mean, why trade for Carson Wentz when you can draft him? If DeMecco Ryans allows this to happen then he may as well get his resume ready because he will be fired in two seasons.
