Thomas at #2 would be a HUGE mistake IMO. I'm sure Skiles would like a player w/ a motor but they also need a PF that can score to make up for Chandler's inability to do anything but dunk the ball. Thomas is basically a 6'8" Chandler in that anything other than a dunk or putback is questionable.

I also think the Hawks actually go for a player other than a swingman. They desperately need a PG and hopefully they won't pass up on the best PG in the draft 2 years in a row. Marcus Williams is supposedly having great workouts for teams as well.

Tyrus Thomas is my #1 pick...

for the player most likely to plunge down the board on draft day.

Refusing to workout for anyone lower than the top 3 teams is not a smart move, in my opinion. If he slips out of the top 3, which is likely, he could slip for a while since nobody else will have seen him up close and personal.

I respect your opinion but I highly doubt it he will slip past the 5th pick. Not too many teams are going to pass up on the opportunity to grab a 19 yr old with his talent and passion to the game. He might be a higher risk than others but also he is a high reward and some team are going to take a chance. His defense alone will be worth a high pick in my opinion.

I understand what you're saying. I don't necessarily think he will slide, but somebody always does and he's my choice. Gerald Green was projected to go from about 3 to 7 last year and flew all the way down to 18. He, like Thomas, refused a lot of competitive workouts and his stock took a huge hit.

I think the team to watch is Portland. If he gets past them, it'll get interesting for him I think. Again, I'm certainly not guaranteeing a slide, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Do you think the Rockets will pass on Tyrus Thomas if he is available at #8?

I hope so. We may need toughness on the interior, but we need about a dozen things on the perimeter. The MLE isn't enough to patch up the entire perimeter, so we'd better take advantage of a lottery pick.

That question remain to be answered. Do you draft the best availabe player or do you draft for need. If I were the Rockets and Thomas is available at #8 and both Gay and Roy are gone and will defenitely grab him.

Also some people might look at Thomas' stats and thinks he only averge 12.3ppg but he is playing only 26 mpg. Also he was a freshman. Usually college players improve their scoring every year till their senior year. I admit he is still raw offensively and I would be worried about injury because he is aggressive player but he is hard to pass up at #8. His averges of 3.1 bpg and 9.2 RPG in only 26 mins is phenomenal.

Do not forget his 100% shooting from beyond the arch ;)

MIN PTS REB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P% PPS
    25.9 12.3 9.2 1.3 1.8 .71 1.0 3.1 2.6 .608 .657 1.000 1.58

I'm not a huge fan of Thomas but I would actually want the Rox to pick him up if he slipped to #8. The guy has a lot of talent, athleticism, and a huge motor. I could see Thomas making out to be a pretty good player w/ the right team and coach.

I've got the best read of any mock draft on here:

BEST READ IN MOCK DRAFT HISTORY

I'll probably win it all too. I'm not showing off, I'm just really really good at picking drafts. And making out.

    Clutch,
I gotta take issue with the Adam Morrison-Wally Z comparison.

Wouldn't Glenn Robinson be a better comparison? We're talking about a SF who is not very athletic, not a very good defender. But a pure scorer who can put the ball through the hoop in many different ways.

I don't think Wally Z has as many moves at his disposal as Morrison, and is more of a spot up shooter than creative scorer.

I think Morrison will likely average around 21ppg in his prime. I just think Robinson in his Big 3 days may be a better comparison. Just my two cents.
