Jeff -- did you get this from the Chronicle? Because the "r****ded" comment is not in their online story as of this morning...

Actually, no. I know Mobley said it.... for sure. The "r****ded" comment is in the <a href="http://www.starnews.com/article.php?TXTFFBC91A3.html">Indianapolis Star article</a> this morning, but the quotes are <I>slightly</I> different in punctuation, and the ones Jeff posted are equivalent to the Chronicle.... plus Jeff also posted the Rudy T article from the Chronicle at the same time last night.

So what I want to know is did the Chronicle initially print that line, then take it out.

WOW! Clutch, you are absolutely correct. I took that from the Chron last night but they must've removed it. I bet it wasn't in the print edition this morning either.

Well, the fact that it was in the Indianapolis paper is proof that it happened, but sheesh, taking it out of the Chron? That's really wierd. I wonder who caught it and had it removed.

It wasn't in the print edition.

DaDakota, I thought last night was probably Mobley's least "selfish, ball-hogging" game of the year. He continuously passed in OT to OT. He made 4 bounce passes to split the traps of the pnr that Francis never makes....3 were successful for scores or fouls and 1 hit a foot for a turnover.

He also had a nice drive that was stopped by collapsing defense, and he found a sweet wrap-around little 4 foot bounce pass to Willis.

Mobley is not the sharpest tool, but he is changing his ways, which tells me he is listening to the coaches. The biggest mistake of rooting for Mobley is to cast him in stone. He always improves, every year. Some games Mobley will fire away. He should. All we want is for him to use his teammates better to help himself, and to admit when he isn't feeling it, and do other things. I am seeing some change. Of course, it is hard to see anything in a 12 game losing streak.

    Crispee,

I agree, he played great share the ball for the most of the game last night, and for that matter the game prior too.

That is why the Rockets scoring has all of the sudden gone up, they are sharing.

The problem is that during crunch time is when they NEED to share it the most, and the reason we are failing at that point is that we are NOT sharing the ball, but going one on one.

Mobley's effectiveness when running the pick and roll would improve greatly if he would learn how to dribble with his head up.

He's narrowminded, imo, deciding beforehand whether he's going pass or shoot, and more times than not, not basing his decisions on the reactions of the defense. He's a reluctant passer.

Given the status of the team, he should look to be more of a playmaker than strictly a scorer.

It should be noted that he showed improvement in this department against Indiana by simply pushing the ball with the pass as opposed to the dribble.

    DaDakota,

You know I have been preaching this same sermon.... If the Rockets learn to play more as a TEAM, they would still be close to first place.

I love the way they played in the 2nd Quarter when they had the 3 Superstars(Cat, Moochie, & KT) on the bench. The ball movement was nice, everyone was involved and we also took the lead. The biggest problem was Rudy never put that combination back out on the floor again.

"It's one thing to be human, it's another thing to be r****ded."

Last time I checked, 'r****ded' people were still considered human, Mobes. Don't know if I'd say the same about you.

I think he ought to be suspended for that arrogant, ignorant comment. I don't care what he meant. What an embarrassment. Look, Mobley--try making a third of your shots for the game and you wouldn't have had to say a thing about the refs. Blame yourself. You're pathetic.

Despite Mobes frustration, and you can really see it on the court, I thought last night's game was pretty damn good. Mobes moved the ball. A little sheepishly at times and he also telegraphs the pass well before he dishes (you coulkd read the set even if you had to use braille)... but despite the L ... a good all-around both-ends-of-the-court game.

I know I get harped for being overly optimistic at times, but their progress over the last five games is tangible. Ball movement & positioning is getting more consistent. Some of the rooks and semi-rooks are playing a good pro game. I particularily like their defensive switches and adjustments.

The offensive end will take some more time, but man, these guys are starting to play with more team thought, a little better control and are gaining some great experience in tight games & come-from-behinds.

Their intensity has improved 200% over the last three or four games.

While I don't agree with Mobley's slanderous comments about mentally challenged persons, I definitely agree with Mobley's defamation of a truly horrible referee. He also insulted CBA refs everywhere by insinuating this guy would be able to officiate a CBA game.

Of course, the problem with this quote is the source. Mobley can be seen crying to the refs just about every time he shoots the ball, so he loses a little bit of credibility there.

Still, overall, I say well done Mobley! :)
