If you want to do it like heypartner, look in the Feedback forum, to a thread with a question for him, and the answer is in there. Can't really explain it for you though, if you have seen it. Never tried it.

File this one under "Most meaningless statistic." Seeing how no wins came out of it. Think Jerry Stackhouse from 00-01, and you have Mobley.

    LOL, that was funny heyp.

Com'on you hatas and luvas though, give it to us gooooood. Let's bust out the multivariate stuff and have fwwuwnn. These tools are easy and cheap (30 day trial). Let's iron out the hata/luva argument.

Somebody just has to do all of the typing.

I'm just now checking this thread out... I'm glad RC didn't go the way of New Coke.

That was a close one, Cola.

He probably missed those 4 due to injury, or something. I think I saw you had to play a minimum of some number of games, so its not exact.

He missed the last 3 games with Francis. Tank mode. It is an exact measurement for the last 41 games by the Rockets and last 41 games by the teams of each player measured.

btw: Mobley's last 41 games are equal, stats-wise.

And while I'm at it. Mobley also shot 46% over something like 46 games from Jan 15th, 2000 until the end of the season...

This was to the !!!day!!! after DaDakota started a thread entitled, "Mobley needs a good dose of pine."

ummm....then he goes en fuego because Rudy handled it differently. Just like how people here were crying for Mobley ass in January this year, this he lights it up like we see in this thread.

Makes one wonder how good Mobley would be if DaD and other reactionary fans were his coach.

Or maybe Mobley got motivated by my thread.....could it be that he reads this BBS.

Well, if that is the case, I will be on him all year.....

By the way, I hold both Mobley & Francis to a higher standard as they are suppossed to lead the team.

If you are not going to lead, then get out of the way.

Go use that in some Iraqi War thread in the Hangout. Because it makes no sense whatsoever for what Mobley did in Spring 2000 with nothing to lead or Spring 2002.

For the last 3 yrs, he averages ~45% in 2nd Halfs at around 21ppg.

That is leading. You are the one not following. Get with the program.

    HP,

It is an 82 game season, the games at the beginning count just as much as the games at the end.

Heck, even Walt Williams got hot for 20+ games in 2000, what does that mean in the larger picture...NOTHING !!

It is all about wins and losses, nothing more, nothing less.

As for leading, it means everything, if the team is going to look at Mobley and Francis to set an example, then they darned well better set a good one.

Hustle, play defense and unselfish offense...that is how you win in the NBA.....it is not ROCKET science, it is basketball.

Mobley is a very good individual player as is Francis, however, they have NOT proven that they can lead the team to the next level.

They will get their chance yet again this year, and I am looking for a TON of improvement. Specifically on defense and ball movement.....we shall see......

PS. If you don't know what being a leader is, and how important that is to the human dynamic, then don't make yourself look stupid by commenting on the imporance of it.

Yeah, and the 1st and 2nd quarters count just as much as the 4th.
That's some weird Rockets Forum ****.

So, let me try, in your words,

If you don't know what being a coach is, and how important Feb, March and April is to basketball season dynamics, "<i>then don't make yourself look stupid by commenting on the human dynamics</i>" of giving Mobley a "<i>Good Dose of Pine</i>" prematurely, when Rudy proved verbal lashing was not necessary to get 46% 2nd halves out of him TWICE! in 3 yrs.

I know Rudy. You are no Rudy.

    HP,

I never claimed to be Rudy. I do claim to understand how basketball works and I don't mind speaking my mind.

If Cat is playing like crap, I will talk about it, if he plays well, I will praise him.

It is part of being a fan, the ups and the downs.

Cat is a good player, no doubt, but he is FAR from a complete player, the best comparison I have seen is the Stackhouse comparison. Hopefully, Cat will see the light like Jerry did and realize that the entire team needs to be involved to win consistantly in the NBA.

Look at the Lakers....everyone was involved, yes, Shaq and Kobe were the primary players, but Horry, Fox, Shaw, etc..etc...all contributed. When a player feels he will contribute he will try harder on all facets of the game, offense, defense....etc....

Leaders motivate their teamates by sharing the responsibility with them, and making them feel like their contributions are just as important.

Francis and Cat DO NOT play this way, they both try to beat the double team ON THEIR OWN...and this is simply STUPID !!!

The Rockets will get better when these 2 players mature and learn to trust their teamates.....Period !!!!

    DaDa,

do you think stackhouse saw the light, or do you think stackhouse finally had competent teammates to pass to?

    Verse,

I think almost any player in the NBA is a competent teamate, most of these players were STARS in college.

The problem is primarily a confidence issue, and confidence only grows with being involved in the flow of the team.

If you feel your contributions are going to matter then you work harder.

It is a bit of a catch 22, but I do know one thing.

Francis and Mobley have tried the NO PASS TO TEAMATES style and that clearly does not work, so maybe they SHOULD try to pass the ball.

I actually believe that TMO and the rest would be a lot better if they were involved in the offensive flow.

Hakeem did not make the adjustment until he went out with an injury and the Rocks won 16 in a row without him. He then realized that even though the rest of the players on his team were not AS GOOD as he was, they were still "GOOD ENOUGH" to help him win.

And WALLAH !!! 2 championships resulted.
