Mafia Wars for me might as well be called Serf Wars. Every time I build something of value in property, the masses attack and rob it. I have to spend more than it is making me to "protect" it and rebuild it. I finally sold all my buildings and just bought a bunch of open lots. (I don't understand why my upkeep is still so high with empty lots...) but empty lots don't get robbed.

Mulder - you may already know this - but in case you don't: if your mafia size is not equal to or greater than your level - you are begging to be robbed. in a robbery - you can bring as many mafia members as your level. So let's say we're both level 40. your mafia size is 20. My mafia size is 100. Well - I can rob you with 40 mafia members b/c that is my level (even though I have 100 people in my mafia) - so that means I bring 40 weapons, 40 vehicles, and 40 pieces of armor. You can only defend your property with 20 people - since your limiting factor is not your level (like for me) but your mafia size. So you bring 20 weapons, 20 vehicle, and 20 pieces of armor. Game over. I win each time I rob you. Thus the moral of the story is to not build property people will want to rob (casinos, hotels, office buildings) unless your mafia size is equal to or greater than your level. you can build apartments and value marts. no one wants to waste a stamina point robbing those b/c there is little ROI on such robberies.
I figured it was like that... With a small mafia, and a relatively high rank for a newbie, I kept getting robbed time after time. Thanks for the info, every little bit helps.

Zynga closing that multiple gifting bookmarklet was a **** move. If they made gifting easier, people wouldn't have to use apps to do it.

I am upset because I've been saving my Godfather coins (had 32) for the last several weeks... then I logged in yesterday and 25 coins were mysteriously missing from my collection. I registered a complaint with Zynga - and they gave me a typical "hose and close" CSR response of "make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash" and "reset your computer" and "uninstall mafia wars from your facebook account and reinstall" HEY DUMMIES - THIS IS A SERVER-SIDE ISSUE - NOT A CLIENT-SIDE! I wanted to strangle that ho "Debbie" when I read her email.
I want a bigger Mafia but I don't want a bunch of Facebook friends. They are separate right? I don't want Mafia Wars people all up in my personal business.
they are not separate - unless you create filters on your profile that do not give your mafia wars friends access to your photos/wall/etc. But they will always be able to see your basic info (name, email address, birthdate, etc)
Just joined the ClutchFans group. I'm at level 114, but I only have a Mafia of 66. I don't get robbed as often as you might think, but I'm not exactly worried about money either, except for in Cuba.
You can add a friend on facebook, get them in your Mafia, and then remove them as a friend on facebook if you want.
bah, too much work. guess I'll have to live with getting robbed and killed all the time. that sucks. but I'm not going to let 500 strangers see naked pictures of myself.
Its really easy to set up a Mafia wars only friends list and restrict that group of friends from seeing your personal info. 1) Go to facebook, select friends tab. Then "create new list." Name it My Mafia. Now you can put any of your new friends in "My Mafia" group. 2) go to settings -> privacy settings 3) select profile "Control who can see information on your profile page." 4) For all of those tabs, select "only friends" 5) starting at basic info, select customize - select except these people "My Mafia" Do this for all of the options, personal info, status and links, etc. 6) Do the same filtering for your contact information. Now your mafia only sees your profile.
