A couple of years ago in Austin (where I live) there was a vote on light rail. It was voted down on the phrase ‘costs too much, does too little’. I think that is the issue in this discussion. Rather Williams starts, plays D, is a chucker or whatever, I think we all agree that adding him to the team (for relatively not much in return) upgrades the quality of our point guard position. The question is; is that contract, which seems awfully big for a long time worth the incremental gain. Obviously the amount of gain you see is critical to the answer.

Pat- That's a pretty good analogy. I lived in Austin for pretty much 90-96 eventhough I was at SWT for 3 of those years. Let me ask u this, do u think Austin, the spawling city it is now would be less congested and better off by spending those couple of pennies for that light rail? From 183 to Mopac to the narrow grind of 35, wouldn't it be easier and save gas money to just hop the train?

I just think Williams is a realistic option that fills a huge need and could elevate the Rox. My 1st choice is Artest, but I'm not sure they can get him. That 3rd consistent guy is sorely needed and all the Rox have to give up is Jackson and a player. The 8m doesn't concern me because they could pawn Rafer off for a 2nd rd pick or sign and trade for a cheaper backup and players will be willing to play cheaply here becaue of being title worthy. Right now the rox can't attract that vet minimum guy because of the lure of a ring because of their status in the west. Players can look at a team and kinda tell how good they're going to be. Even healthy, they rox are below La,No,Sa,and maybe even Utah.

I really dont think posting highlights Of Mo is a good idea, obviously it shows nothing but the best plays. But at least they are somewhat supported by excellent stats. Offensively, Mo williams is everything the Rockets need at point guard. I dare the opposing point guard to go under the screens on what Mark Jackson would call "a knock-down shooter". He also seems to be a much better passer than some people are giving him credit for.

In these next 2 vids, it shows him in a real game setting, running the show playing within the offense. He doesnt look like a ballhog to me, or all that much different than what Rafer does for that matter.

This video I gotta say it was very dissapointing. His defense seems to be alot like Nash's or Iverson's.....or quite possibly as bad as Bonzi  :( He seems to follow the ball no matter who/where it goes to(is that the gameplan?) and is often out of position. Whats worse, even when he is within arms reach it doesnt look like he even tries to contest the shots ala Bonzi :(

If the Rockets feel that Mo coudnt make the necessary adjustments on a team aspiring for a championship, they should try to get a three way trade going between the Bucks and the Heat. IIRC, Miami wanted Williams in the offseason and the Bucks matched their offer. We should send a package, something like Battier/ BJax/ and the trade exception. Milwaukee gets Battier & the exc., Miami gets Williams ,Charlie V & BJax , and the Rockets get Shawn Marion in a sign and trade. I dont know if that would even work or if it makes us any better. Or they should try to get Orlando involved so we could get Turkeyglue and not have to give up Battier.

I think many of you are taking this analysis too far.

Fact is Mo Williams is a better player than Alston, a better shooter by percentages.

He is a good player that is not overpaid (something hard to find now a days) making him a player easy to move if he cannot be useful here.

I have no doubt that if we have any real chance to have him without giving away T-Mac-Yao-Scola-Battier we have to.

I like his mid range game a lot. I think part of the rox scoring droughts come from no one other than tracy can hit consistently from mid range. There are a lot of points to be scored from 15-20 ft. With Yao on the blocks, there are too many times when rafer or shane shoots a 3. A guy like williams can put the ball on the floor and either get to the rim or pull up before the big man helps. The big can't help because yao is there thus leaving a very makeable ft line jimmy. When the big cheat, the other guard has to pinch leaving yao for a offensive rebound which yao has become better at doing.

The Rockets now need to go after Mo Williams since he might be on the market. They can get a swingman/wing like Pietrus from free agency. Milwaukee has Charlie Bell to fill the starting role. We can give them expiring contracts, next year's #1, and even a pg if they want one. I'd be willing to depart with some combination of Brooks, Alston, Jackson, Head, Dorsey, Greene, or even Landry. Williams is worth it. He would solidify the PG position. However, with the addition of RJ, they might be more willing to give up Redd. Either way, the Rockets should make a call to Milwaukee.

That's the only part of your suggestion I agree with and that I believe could happen.

Bucks aren't giving up Redd because Jefferson plays a completely different position, small forward. If anything, they might be more inclined to use Joe Alexander as trade bait.

And as for thinking that Charlie Bell can run an NBA team.....I agree wholeheartedly with Brooksball.
