Well, if he's that efficient and I believe he is and our owner wants to spend the money then why not?

why would he pass? He's the 2nd best player on that team. Why would he not wanna shoot the ball? He still averaged 6 assists a game this year. He could work on protecting the ball, but you guys need to start being realisitic when it comes to wanting a third scorer. he shot the ball 14 times a game....rafer shoots it 12 times. i'd love to have mo or rafer off the bench.

    PLEASE SIGN THE GUY UP.

I'd still rather have Monta Ellis though

Warriors are gonna trade a guard this year. They got too many of them and not enough size. Problem is, we don't have size they want either.

If he's available, ROX have got to do everything to get him....we need him or Heinrich. I seen him play on National TV with Yi debut...he was tremendous...attacking the basket and score at will...something Rafer can not do.

    Yep.

Their both somewhat combo guards. Tmac's a SG who is affective at setting up plays, Mo is a PG who is affective at shooting. They will compliment each other the way that the combo of Francis/Mobley did. Combo type players are at their best when they play along with other combo type players that mask their diffeciencies.

Mo won't have a chance to ball hog cause he might not get the ball until he's open for a shot anyways, with Tmac and Yao on his team.

    Quick answer, HELL NO!

Brief explanation: MoWill is a good scorer at the PG position, and that's all he is. We don't need a shoot-first, volume-shooting, no-play-making-skills and overpaid PG who doesn't play much defense.

That's very helpful if true. When did he sign that contract? Wasn't it last offseason?

    Totally Agreed.

We must try everything to acquire Mo Williams...
Clearly an upgrade over Rafer, even though defensively he is weaker than Rafer, but who can really stop CP3 or Deron in this league?

Offensive power is what we need, and Mo will be the perfect compliment to the team. Getting Mo to fire up our offense will be a much better option than other options.(other option being trading Battier for a scorer).

Mo had more assists per game than Rafer did, so how can you call him a ball hog? Just because Jake Voskuhl doesn't get 20 shots a game doesn't mean the PG is selfish...And Mo made those assists on a team with only one other proven scorer in Redd...

Get it done Morey! I think getting Mo will be one of the few realistic options for us.

To people who say he's a "shoot-first" PG or a "chucker", his assist rate for last season was 30. Rafer's? 25.2. So not only does he shoot HEAPS better than Rafer, he passes more too.

    1. I agree 100% that Mo can very useful and is not as big a chucker as his detractors claim. The guy scores very efficiently, so it's not like he's forcing up a ton of bad shots.

He not only provides a better shooting/scoring alternative to Rafer, he also provides an alternative to Luther Head as shooter off the bench. Mo can hit the 3s like Luther, but actually create his own shots, unlike Luther. This may prevent the dreaded big-guard-posting-Luther situation because the opposing coach will have to worry about Mo's dribble penetration and defend him with someone closer to his size and quickness.

    2. The question, however, isn't Mo vs. Rafer or even Mo vs. Bobby Jackson or Aaron Brooks or Luther Head. The question really is Mo. vs. "Who else can we get for Bobby's expiring contract?"

If Mike Miller or Ron Artest or Kirk Hinrich, for example, is available either in the summer or the middle of next season, would you rather make a deal for him than Mo, considering all factors, such as other assets you have to give up for Miller or Artest or Hinrich, length of contracct, positional fit, etc? Same thing goes for other potential acquisitions.

The thing is, once you get Mo, there's no turning back.. you are committed to the guy for a 5 year contract. You ain't gonna be able to trade him for anything valuable. If the Rockets got him cheap (as the original post had it, expiring + low 1st rounder), doesn't that mean no one else would likely pay more for him, absent dramatic improvement in his game?

You are especially not going to be able to take advantage of another potential "fire sale" given that all of the significant contracts (which we need for cap matching purposes) remaining on the team would have multiple years remaining (not to mention those are also gonna be all guys Adelman rely on for minutes-- McGrady, Yao, Shane, Rafer, Mo, Scola, re-signed Landry).

    3. In the end, I think Mo is a fine potential addition for this team. I just don't now if he is the best alternative (or even among the, say, 3 or 5 best) out there. I also think the team can afford to wait a bit longer before deciding.

You absoultely go for this deal if you can get him for expirings and a pick.

He is an efficient scorer, decent long range shooter, good finisher on the break, athletic, and a fair playmaker. This would go a long way in solidifying our PG position.

I wish we could get Ramon Sessions, instead. Because he is a fantastic passer...I think he could be like Mark Jackson type point guard. He really had some great games towards the end of year.

and he is only 22 years old....in Mo Williams, I see Mike James, Part II.

If the rockets cannot get Calderon or Billups, they should sign this guy!

Between Mo, Hinrich and TJ Ford we should be able to land a solid starting PG this offseason.
