Yeah I just saw some of the posts saying that it might not be this year's first round draft pick. I was going off what I saw on the Chron site. It looks like details are still being sorted but if this is the case that we've traded this year's first rounder in the Mo T deal I'm a little leery about passing up on a potential first rounder. Of course any unease could be easily dispelled by a signing a great free agent.
There were no first rounders exchanged in the Maurice Taylor deal. In fact, it was us who received draft considerations. We got a 2nd rounder in the deal. so it ends up like this... Maurice Taylor to NYK for Moochie Norris, Vin Baker, 2nd Round Draft Choice.
http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/22182.htm were the rockets offerred mohammed? maybe they didnt want to part with 2 first rounders...
You still arent getting it straight. let me bold it so you can see it We DID NOT give up ANY first round draft picks we recieved a second round pick FROM NY.
Tim Thomas, Kurt Thomas and Mo Taylor on the same team Wow! Then again we have the former champs of overpaid/rated forwards Vin Baker and Juwan. Vin Baker will instantly bring life back in the bar scene near Toyota center! Some one get Vin some tequilla!
The Rockets were desperate to dump Mo Taylor and really had only 2 possible trade partners: NY & Portland. That they were able to take advantage of Isiah "Mr. Legend In His Own Mind" Thomas and get this deal done without giving up a number one pick is virtually historic in my opinion. This is the first SMART trade I've seen CD & Co. make in YEARS. It's a good start but it doesn't begin to make up for the past 10 years of dumbass, brain-dead general management by CD. Maybe the worm has indeed turned over at the TC and someone with real brains is now calling the shots. Only time will tell. They still need to prove that they can actually draft somebody.
So I guess trading Steve & Co. for Tmac wasn't a very smart trade? Or how about trading Lue for Barry? Or giving up the great Reece Gaines and 2nd round picks for Mike James? Yeah, those were some pretty dumb moves.
No big deal. Unlike other rumors, these were false reports by ESPN, nba.tv and others. So it appeared the facts were already in. My statement was a mere combination of that reported deal, and some of the other bone head deals CD has made in years past (giving away a 1st rounder, to give away a valuable expriring contract - Rice, etc....). I think Desert Scar deserves props! Not only did he pick #1 that James is who CD needed to get yesterday, but agreed with many posters that the original reported deal sucked, and they should of given us a 2nd rounder for Taylor. Lord be Hold, that's exactly what we got! What to go DS
I read a whole lot of this thread to see if this question has been asked and answered. Someone help me out? The Chron article says Is this true? So, do we keep one of our '06 and '07 #2s. Do we not get the Knicks'? The Knicks second rounder will be better than ours, unless they gave us one that belonged to someone else.
Maybe the assumption is the 05 and 06 drafts will be weaker with the 20-year-old rule, and that 07 will regain strength with the guys who are 18 this year and had to wait to 20 to be drafted.
Did anyone else clean up their own vomit after they heard that Moochie is back in Rocket Red or am I the only one? Oh, well. At least the Mike James deal brought a smile to my face. Zeek really had a thing for overpaid, reserve power forwards this trading deadline, didn't he?
i think the rockets will have a choice of either sending their own pick to MIL or sending the NY pick to MIL. I am not positive on this, but if this is the case whichever is the lower of the two picks I would think would go to MIL
It would be nice to know for sure. By the same token, we don't know if NY has to seend their 2nd round pick, or just a 2nd round pick, which by draft day may come from anywhere.
You're the only one. Moochie likely won't see much game time, but he is an upgrade over Barrett and Strickland. Once Sura comes back, Moochie probably won't see the court in game situations.
yeah, it had so much market value that Utah promptly cut him instead of trying to keep him and trade him for something
