For all the whining on this board, I for one will still be cheer Moochie on! Just wonder if he still has ice flowing thru his veins and whether if he's ready to hit all the big game-winning 3's for us like he used to... GO MOOOCHIIIEEEE!!! .... this is Clutch City after all!!! now if only we can work something out to bring back Sam I Am...
Probably, but I just got home from class. I was all excited when I read about Mike James at school, but my whole day is ruined now.
I agree wholeheartedly. $10M is $10M in flexibility. We now have 25 million in expiring contracts next year. That is HUGE. We can hold onto them and build the flexibility around Yao and TMac, or we will have the ability to make trades. The Warriors just got an all-star PG for an expiring contract and a marginal PG. If the new CBA taxes luxury tax hits hard, like it apparently will, this becomes an even bigger factor. The Celtics transferred expiring contracts of Payton and 2 deadweight players into Antoine Walker. While Walker is a blackhole, the Celtics upgraded their talent. Another option is to make a move like the Knicks and Bulls. There is depth in the free agent market in PFs, but many of them are restricted. So was Jamal Crawford this summer. The Knicks were able to get Crawford largely by accepting Jerome Williams' undesirable contract (over 20 mill left on it), and giving them back much smaller contracts, like Harrington's and Mutombo's. In addition, for those lamenting the loss of Taylor, take a look at Baker's numbers in Boston last year to Taylor's numbers last year... 2003/2004: Maurice Taylor: 75 games, 27.7 mpg, 48% FG%, 73.6% FT%, 11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg, .63 bpg, 1.99tpg, 3.4 PF Vin Baker: 37 games, 27 mpg, 50.5% FG%, 73.2% FT%, 11.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, .62 bpg, 1.41 tpg, 2.6 PF If anything, Baker was better.
Yep - That's the Moochie I've seen lately. Sadly, he is not better than Rod. This was a 1st rounder to free up salary a year earlier and to keep Mo from rotting on the bench creating a silent stink. Vin - I can't say, since I haven't seen him play in years. I don't see them getting us much in a trade next year either as any gm that wants to trade for expiring contracts will only want to trade an overpaid player - that's the whole point. But I don't see us wanting to pick up an overpaid player even with a pick sweetener. Out with the old and say hello to your latest Rocket's Moochie and Vin.
It's almost 5PM ET. Here is the transactions report from NBA.com: Thu., Feb. 24 Cleveland acquires Jiri Welsch from Boston for a first-round draft pick in 2007. Houston acquires Mike James and Zendon Hamilton from Milwaukee for Reece Gaines and second-round picks in 2006 and 2007. Philadelphia acquires Rodney Rogers and Jamal Mashburn from New Orleans for Glenn Robinson. Nothing about Mo Taylor. Is it officially dead or is there some lag time for reporting?
I think CD has a "hard on" with giving away 1st round picks. Surprised he did not give it away for James. IN FACT, giving a 1st round for james made sense!! How about giving away the much valuable expiring contract of Glen Rice. How many draft picks did we receive?? Oh thats right, we had to give away a 1st round pick, to give away an expiring contract? Bottom line, these were two different types of deals today. A scrub and (2) 2nd rounders for a quality point guard. Then a somewhat quality PF, and a 1st rounder for complete trash and one year savings of cap space. Whats done is done, but everybody has to admit these are two opposite trades, far as who robbed who
Newsday and ESPN NEWS is reporting that New York get two 1st rounders from the Spurs - one in 2005 and one in 2006. And no First rounders from the Rockets. http://www.nynewsday.com/sports/bas...0,5837630.story?coll=nyc-sportshome-headlines
According to 610, Deal for Mo T is not done yet, is waiting league approval. The salaries match and looks like it is going to go through...
